Doggone it!
I was coming on this thread to demand photos but then I saw, “some as young as 15”. I may be a dirty old man, but I’m not a DIRTY old man.
Bummer.
Oh, nooooo!
Those evil Asians.
We don’t do that sort of thing in the West, to sell everything from toothpaste and mouthwash to deodorant, women’s fashions and even dishwashing detergent.
No, we would NEVER do that!
Doesn’t sound like exploitation to me. Smart business move. Of course we’d choose to fly the airline with the prettier faces.
PING!
I do a lot of contract assignments in the Far East, always try to book on their national airlines.
Problem to be solved with full burkas ...
I’ve flown Garuda and the staff was knowledgeable, capable, and beautiful.
What’s wrong with choosing pretty flight attendants? As the article states, its passenger safety that comes first. But after that, why not choose the pretty ones over the smelly ones?
My younger daughter used to work for Cathay Pacific but switched to Singapore Airways.
When she interviewed in Singapore the interview had 2 two parts. The technical part and the service part she had to change into a bikini for the service part of the interview. I kid you not. Try that in the US!
She also had to speak either Cantonese or Mandarin as well as English and they prefer a third language such as Malay or Japanese.
I agree and I am a female. I am going to clarify, I am a completely heterosexual female.
I am also visual, a visual learner, depend a lot on what I can see. I see beautiful people throughout the population. I also see people that don’t give a rip about what they look like, which is their choice.
Who would I rather look at? The pretty ones. That’s just the way it is. Now, let me also say, I don’t find Asian women particularly pretty, but I understand a lot of men do.
Better to hire a hairy legged Feminist in baggy shorts, who smokes heavily and smells like mothballs. Yes, that would be much better, no?
Wouldn’t The Economist be racist for calling Asians sexist?
It would be more fair to the ugly women of the world, and, after all, they’re the vast majority.
Of course, no one would watch them and no one would buy the products they endorsed, but... it’s fairness that’s important.
Except in the real world, that is.
...or the limp wrist ones
I’ve done some flying in my day...and still do.There was a time when a stew’s looks might have been important but those days are long gone.Fares, schedules, aircraft (if it ain’t Boeing,I ain’t going) are several of the things that matter to me today.
How ya goin ta keep them down on the collective after they've got daisy maes?
Sex sells.
“No, we would NEVER do that!”
Well, AA can’t be accused of that on their international flights. Bunch of old, grouchy, entitled divas riding the gravy train....
Consequence of cultural Marxism.
Kind of like the difference between Chik-fil-a and every other major fast food place.
One has well mannered, well groomed, attractive employees with a helpful demeanor vs the industry standard of employees who seldom appear to bathe, look like they sleep in their uniforms and are slothful and surly.
Which would you choose?
