Passing debate questions to a presidential candidate before the debate is a disturbing practice worthy of dismissing any said member of the news media. The candidate ACCEPTING debate questions before the debate is completely fair and ethical.

It is an admirable act of “conscience” for an elector to betray his pledge to support the candidate that his state voted for. It is not an act do conscience to keep that pledge.
