A professor at the University of Southern California has barred her students from using the phrase illegal immigrant in their final exam for the class.
Alicia Chavez teaches the American studies course, America, the Frontier and the New West, a course that focuses on the intersecting historical processes and diverse peoples which have shaped the region of the North American West.
According to an email screenshot supplied by a student in the class, despite the class dealing substantially with illegal immigration into the United States, Chavez banned use of the term illegal immigrant on her students upcoming final exam. Instead, students have been ordered to use the term undocumented immigrant or unauthorized entry as a euphemism for such immigrants.

This racist idiot isn’t a “professor”. She is a low-level lecturer. This freak should be fired for being such a fascist racist. What a pig.
Whatever students are paying for this “course”, it’s way too much.
Yup .... And I bet this brilliant Professor is also a huge advocate and proponent of Free Speech.
I prefer the term "Mexican".
what is she going to do? Fail them for telling the truth? That should go over well with a a judge hearing a big fat lawsuit case
Private University.....meh...
LOL - why do I have the urge to email her with a one word message: Wetback!
That’s not in the spirit of Christmas, I know, but I still have the urge.
Just before the two minute mark the guest, Sterling Beard, says
You wouldn’t call a drug dealer an “undocumented pharmacist”....

They are not all Mexicans! What about that large group of Salvadorans that obama just transported across the border, and deep into the US?
PHOOEY!!!!
Good - they aren’t illegal immigrants -— they’re illegal invaders....
Just wondering: does a professor have a right - in terms of the rules of academia - to prohibit students from using a phrase that is literally true? If I were in charge of that school, she would be fired for suppression of academic freedom.
Good one. What about just “illegal alien”? They aren’t immigrants, more like invaders. Immigrants apply for admission.
” I dont believe Lecturers are actually Professors - she likely does not have tenure and might not even be an associate professor.”
Lecturers are not professors. They are not tenure track and they absolutely are not associate professors. They have no vote in the department, get term contracts and likely no benefits.
This woman caused some problems last year when she turned off a video (she had apparently never previewed!) and said she didn’t need to have the students hear about any American superiority. She hates this country so much, why doesn’t she go back to Mexico??

“Residents who failed to obey the immigration laws when entering the U.S.” is just too long a phrase when “illegal immigrants” is available.
How about unlawful?
Crimmigrant
May I ban the word professor from words describing this left wing a—hole?
Can they use the term “outlaw foreigners”
Or “beyond the pale strangers”?
By using a thesaurus the students should be able to come up with a large number terms that mean the same thing. And drive Alicia Chavez plumb batty.
