Wallace asked the Republican if he wouldn't get 'lonely rattling around the White House' all by himself.

'No, I'll be working. I'll be working. It's a very special place and it represents so much and there's a lot to do, there's a lot to do, more than I ever thought,' Trump replied.

'There's so many thing we can do to "Make America Great Again" and that's what it's all about,' the president-elect continued, repeating his campaign slogan.

'I'll be working, I won't be lonely at all,' Trump added.

President Trump will have the place fumigated and scrubbed thoroughly before he moves in. Then he will have the place exhorcized.

I think Barron likes being a kid despite his unusual life-style. He certainly is much loved. Kudos to Melania and Donald.

True enough.God knows how many of his "sons" might have visited the WH in the middle of the night. And then there's Bill Ayers and Jerimiah Wright.

Oh,and Skip Gates...

Ivanka is terrible on the “women’s issue”—all worked up over unequal pay with God-knows-what government plans to improve what she perceives as a major injustice.

I haven’t seen a hint of her being other than a down-the-line Manhattan liberal on “women’s” (or other) issues.

If Trump plans to have the White House exorcized, I hope he doesn’t call on Pope Francis to do it. “Who am I to judge?”
may be his dismissive reply.

There’s a real nice new hotel just down the street...oh yeah, she built it!

Better have the WH inspected for hidden roaches, and not the bug kind.

I agree.

East Coast Cadillac ideology was the very thing that got the big smackdown a month ago because, frankly, liberalism (or so-called progressive) IS the problem.

It’s going to take more than revving up the economy to make America great again. The swamp needs draining and the culture needs fixing.

I hope Mr. President-Elect reconsiders.

When I was 17, Senator Armstrong nominated my dad to Reagan for the Supreme Court (a vacancy eventually filled by O’Conner). My dad declined because he didn’t want me attending a DC high school in my senior year. I thought he was crazy and I should have fought that harder than I did! I would have EASILY adopted!!

Interesting story. Your dad loved you more and was more concerned about you than the honor of SCOTUS. Plus, he was aware what the family goes through in the nomination process thanks to the Dems.

Dad knows best..not sure you could have changed his mind even if you fought harder!

Yikes! My limited understanding of the rarefied world of DC power suggests that there were a number of ways that your family, including the kids, could have benefited if he had accepted.

But then "hindsight" is always 20/20.

RummyChick does,in fact, make a good point.Your Dad surely had the well being of his family in mind when he made his decision.Neither money nor power can buy happiness.

You forgot, replace all the computers and keyboards. Then add 10 more stories at his expense and call all the bed rooms Lincolns, then he can invite all of Hollywood over. The top floor for Rosie O., the only level with a diving board looking over the rose garden and a bird bath.

Firstly, thank you both for your leadership here on FR! I follow you both, always. I’m an only (adopted) child to my Reaganesque late parents, but I’d like to think that there were bigger, better reasons for dad declining the honor to at least meet with the President. It’s a common regret, I suppose, not being able to have asked the important questions of our parents!
