Trump Fans Urge Star Wars Boycott Over Reshoot Claims
Supporters of Donald Trump are urging a boycott of the Star Wars film, Rogue One, due for US release next week.
The campaign began with a series of tweets from activist Jack Posobiec, who claimed the writers changed the film to add scenes linking Mr Trump to racism.
Screenwriter Chris Weitz said that this was "completely fake", though he and another writer have tweeted their opposition to the US president-elect. #DumpStarWars has been retweeted 120,000 times in the past 24 hours. In a Periscope video, Jack Posobiec, who is an activist with Citizens for Trump, claimed the writers had said the Empire in the film "is a white supremacist organisation like the Trump administration and the diverse rebels are going to defeat them".
"They're trying to make the point of using this movie to push the false narrative... that Trump is a racist." he said.
The basis of the claims appears to be tweets sent by Mr Weitz and fellow screenwriter Gary Whitta.
Following Mr Trump's election win in November, Mr Weitz posted: "Please note that the Empire is a white supremacist (human) organisation."
Mr Whitta responded: "Opposed by a multi-cultural group led by brave women."
Both tweets were deleted within the day and Chris Weitz later apologised for politicising the film

The last Star Wars film was on a free preview channel a month or so ago.
I had wanted to see it so checked it out. I only got through around 15-20 minutes and was bored so I turned it off.
I was surprised to see that it got a four star rating in that network. I probably will not even bother with the next few.
The first three were good.
The second three were bad.
The seventh was just awful.
I detect a pretty steady slope (downward) from 1 through 7.
You couldn’t pay me to see #8.
The last Star Wars movie was a good action film but a terrible Star Wars movie. It had no heart, no chemistry, and the characters had no passion or connection to anything ot to each other. It was just another forgettable CGI heavy action film.
I own DVDs ofvthevoriginal 3 Star Wars and Indy Jones movies for a reason. I would never buy the latest Star Wars movie. There is no reason to watch it a second time. I have probably rewatched the original Star Wars film twenty or thirty times by now. It always seems fresh. If I see it flipping channels on cable, I am always compelled to watch it. It just draws me in.
That is true of any great movie like Casablanca or Great Escape or any ither superior movie. They just draw me in.

Is this an official “star wars” movie? I had thought Disney is just trying to pump out extra Star Wars themed movies.

Don’t forget the beyond horrible Made-For-TV versions. Two of them and I understand there is another Holiday version which has not seen the light of day in years.

This new one looks like a 2 hour political commercial + toy commercial for the silly.
I did like The Force Awakens, but that’ll be the last one I pay to see in a theater. I am completely sick and frigging tired of funding these barbaric neanderthals that are too bloody stupid to see that they are the evil empire that they write about.
In the liberal world order, the only freedom of choice you have are aborting fetuses and choosing when euthanasia is right for you.
Outside of that, your entire life is predestined to the whims of the bloated, centralized bureaucracy with only token governors in key positions to keep a firm grip on the people.
Liberalism is a culture of death overall where 99% live in squalor and 1% are chosen to rule. It’s a bunch of stupid, feel good slogans that wrap up horrifying actions they take once in power.
That sounds more like “The Empire” to me.
