Regulations: An easy way to tell whether one of Donald Trump's leadership picks is a good one is to gauge the freakout level among the left. By that measure alone, the person Trump is considering as head of the Food and Drug Administration would be an outstanding choice.
Jim O'Neill, whose name got floated this week, is a managing director at of Trump pal Peter Thiel's Mithril Capital Management. In addition to private sector experience, O'Neill worked at the Department of Health and Human Services under President Bush.
But he's also gasp! a libertarian!
Thus, we're seeing headlines that describe O'Neill as "an insane Silicon Valley libertarian," and that Trump is putting "eccentricity over expertise," and that O'Neill should "scare pharma."
All of these horror stories refer back to a keynote speech that O'Neill gave two years ago, in which he suggested a way to spur investment, innovation and competition in the pharmaceutical industry would be to have the FDA's role be limited to approving that a new treatment is safe.

On the plus side, it should be fun.
Am I my brother’s keeper?
That is the issue behind all of this. God asked Cain a question. Cain didn’t like it. Cain responded with his own “Brother’s Keeper” paradigm. The Left, including the Church Left, has adopted Cain’s paradigm rather than God’s paradigm.
In God’s paradigm we are our Brother’s Brother. We are not our Brother’s Keeper.
A God fearing brother educates and offers the choice of good or bad, truth or lie. But one brother does not use force to impose his way on his brother.
The FDA has the choice of the Judeo-Christian way, or of Cain’s way.
In the Judeo-Christian way the FDA would require accurate and complete labeling in both techie and simple English of products.
A step further, the FDA might determine only the techie description can properly inform. Thus it requires a doctor or pharmacist to explain it to the customer.
A step too far is to tell the customer what he can and cannot buy. Over-the-counter creams are not effective on my foot fungus. The prescription cream is effective. The only possible adverse effect of the effective cream is if I stick it in my eye or take it internally. Well, that is true of everything from dirt on the street to pins and needles to used motor oil.
Why does the FDA not regulate EVERYTHING? The simple answer is that a person who believes in Brother’s Keeper will increase his power to control our lives to the extent we let the power hungry (but well intentioned) doo-gooder go.
Because our unique position in the world, the benefits will overflow. We will always be the biggest "giver" of the world.
He is invested in immortality.
Also of interest is the fact that there was a poll indicating only 40% approval..
People can’t approve that which they don’t know. The picks are for the most part men that are not known. They are not raised up from the Washington swamp to new positions.
Trump is going to have a cabinet and not the secondary panel of czars that are the real political forces running the government
