While a few designers have made news saying they would not dress the future first lady, Carolina Herrera said she'd be honored if Melania Trump wore one of her outfits.
The famed designer spoke about Trump on the red carpet before she received an honor of her own Tuesday night from the Women's Leadership Council at Lincoln Center.
...
But when asked if she would, Herrera said, "Of course I will, as the first lady of this country I will. Of course."
She added, "It is an honor to dress the first ladies of the country and it's something to do for the United States. It's not for myself. It's for the public."

I don’t think any of us could have said it better than that face on the left.
That one might be in the Metropolitan Museum Costume Institute....b/c it is so “of the moment.”
Nice dress, but not modest enough.
I want a good example for our kids out there.
I like that.
It will be great fun watching what Melania wears. She will be beautiful in everything.
I just don’t understand how Michelle could wear some of the clownish outfits that she did, especially early on. She did have some beautiful gowns here and there, though. The one I remember the most is the beautiful long gold dress she wore more recently. It was stunning.
Melania will be more reserved in her everyday dress, but I am sure her gowns will be incredibly gorgeous.
Yes!
Carolina Herrera is a complete class act. She is a true lady & both her clothes & her perfume reflect that.
That is so gorgeous!
Well, Karl has been designing for Chanel for forever, so I guess some of his designs can be considered vintage. Melania wore Chanel to one of the debates, I believe.
The incomparable Valentino...he also made Anne Hathaway's red carpet dress.
I second the motion. I wish I could draw well.
Agreed.
GHETTO CHIC......
I cannot see this gone from the American scene soon enough.
Absolutely stunning.
That may occur at sometime in the future.
One of the first things I learned when I went to Art College in 1974 was this; Almost EVERYONE can draw or embellish to some degree. It was a humbling , though enlightening experience. We artists are not necessarily some separate elite species, endowed with special gifts from above. There are of course, exceptions of the undeniably gifted individual genius.
If you can use the 24 character alphabet, that means you can render specific linear shapes at will, and that means you could draw representational art if you chose to do it. The difference is that most people do not wish to spend time refining that skill. Either the interest or the focus just is not there without a lot of personal effort.
I’ve been looking through pages of haute couture, red carpet and edith head gowns, among others. There is a lot out there that isn’t flattering or beautiful.
Every so often there is a dress that is exquisitely designed and made. Magical.
Good for her. She gets it.
Well, now, there you go again, thinking classy might apply to leftists.
Not “Daisy Dukes”.
One of my favorite designers.
