A judge has sentenced suburban Atlanta father Justin Ross Harris to life in prison without parole for the murder of his 22-month-old son, Cooper, who died in 2014 after Harris left him in a hot car for seven hours while he went to work.
Harris also received another 32 years, to be served consecutively, for convictions on four other counts.
Harris, 36, who appeared in an orange jumpsuit with his wrists shackled at his waist, cast his head slightly downward as the sentence was handed down. He briefly closed his eyes but offered little other reaction.
In addition to the life term, Cobb County Superior Court Judge Mary Staley Clark gave Harris a 20-year sentence on a conviction for first-degree cruelty to children and another 10 years for sexual exploitation of children. Those charges stemmed from a finding that Harris tried to convince a minor to text him photos of her genitalia.

Digital evidence showed that on the day his son died, Harris exchanged sexual messages and photos with six women, including one minor.
State witnesses testified that Harris lived what prosecutors described as a "double life."
To his wife, family, friends and co-workers, Harris was seen as a loving father and husband. Unbeknownst to them, Harris engaged in online sexual communication with multiple women, including two underage girls, had extramarital sexual encounters in public places and paid for sex with a prostitute.

Hopefully the guards will make sure he gets mixed in with general population sooner or later, and things will just take care of themselves.
The guy didn’t drop his son off at daycare? I guess the 22 month old strapped himself into the car seat. This guy deserves every miserable day in prison that he’s been sentenced to.
Lack of responsibility .. Yes.
Being a self absorbed creep.. Yes.
First degree murder..?
I was not in the Jury. I did not see all the evidence, but First Degree Murder is pretty difficult to prove.
Hard to believe that not one juror found any reasonable doubt in this case.
Good.
He should be left in a hot car, as his son was, until dead. THAT would be justice.
“The only sentence that matches the “evil nature” of Harris’ crimes, Boring said, is”.... death is the correct answer, not life in a tax-paid health club.
He internet searched how long it takes to die in s hot car before he killed his son and then afterwards he pretended that he choked to death.
Why was this precious child not at home being cared for by his own mother? So sad. Prayers.
Good. He had better marry some large white guy for protection, or else he’s in BIG trouble.
“I was not in the Jury. I did not see all the evidence, but First Degree Murder is pretty difficult to prove.”
Harris was convicted of “malice murder,” which in Georgia requires premeditation and intent. The jury found that Harris intended to kill his son and had a plan to do so. There was plenty of evidence at trial that both requirements were met.
Jail house justice is a comin’.
Strap him down in a locked car, in Texas, in August. Wait. Dump remains in desert for vultures.
Oh my, that post has me physically repulsed. Seriously sick behavior that would seal the deal on Murder1 for me too.
It seems that so often the sins engulf the innocent children before the creep is unmasked.
I keep thing of the Weiner man as I read this. Carlos Danger is also a sexual pervert who sexted a minor while his baby was in the room. I could easily see him doing the same thing.
Their perverted minds are on how to fulfill their sexual desires with no care or thought to their children.
This monster should suffer the Blood Eagle.
This guy POS researched what it would take to die from heat exhaustion in a hot car.
Thanks for clearing up how the jurors ruled as they did.
I have pretty good faith in the jury system. It seems it worked as designed.
Kudo’s to the lady judge, I guess. Our society needs to get even tougher though and simply take a bastard like this, who does not qualify to be considered a human being, out into the courthouse parking lot and let the general public stone him to death instead of housing and feeding the sob for 50 years!
