The dream of one last romantic Hawaiian vacation is now closer to reality after a Calgary Christmas tree salesperson diagnosed with blood and bone cancer sold out of trees on Saturday night, almost one month ahead of schedule.

I’m glad his final wish is coming true. Too many final wishes do not happen.
I am assuming that the romantic vacation is with his wife. may he have will deserved vacation with her one that will give her the good memories she will need after he is gone.
A cure for Multiple Myeloma is on the horizon if he can hold on for some more time.
I salute his wife for sticking through and thin. Nice and sad story combined.
Not too long ago the prognosis was 3 to 5 years. Now it can be as long as 15, and if a person lives that long there may be a cure. The man in the story was diagnosed in 2013, so he may have 10 years or longer.
I was just diagnosed, on Nov. 4, with a chronic, slow developing blood disorder called “small b-cell lymphoproliferative disorder.” I have had it for over 10 years and the doctor said I am in the “wait and watch” stage. He said it may never develop beyond this stage. However, if it does, it will be a type of blood cancer. He said that it would be 20, maybe even 30 years down the road before I need to see a doc about this again.
I don’t think this treatment will help me, but, perhaps, when I do need help, if I ever do, there might be a cure.
In the meantime ...
I am looking into alternative therapies including essiac tea, amygdalin, and nutritional treatments.
The treatment is actually part of a class of treatments called CAR-T therapy (Chimeric Antigen Receptor T-cell) which has been revolutionizing treatment of blood cancers. All are still in experimental /clinical trial stage. Some are waiting for FDA approval and the earliest one (eg from Kite Pharma) is expected to enter the commercial market some time next year. This will be applicable to all blood cancers (leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma )so yes, you will absolutely benefit from it if/when it becomes commercially available. If there is every a cure for blood cancers - and I mean cure as opposed to just treatment, it’s this - CAR-T. By the way Rush Limbaugh raises money for these kinds of research through his annual Curathon fundraisers.
Diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma in 2005 ... free and clear since then. Treatment has come a long way since then...
Thanks for the info. Yes, I knew Rush raises money for the blood cancer research and that he VERY GENEROUSLY matches what is donated.
Rush is a great man.
