Italians will vote on a referendum for reforming the senate on Sunday, but the implications for a loss could collapse the Italian government and threaten the Eurozone. The Italian referendum on Sunday, December 4th, is at face value a vote on constitutional reform of the senate that would limit the power of the upper house of parliament to veto bills, among other proposed amendments to the constitution.

The Government of Italy has been a Cluster F for my entire adult life. From 1960 till today the Prime Ministers spot has switched hands 33 times.

The only person the Zero can get elected is the Zero. His proxy battles have yielded zilch in non socialist countries.
He doesn't seem to be doing too hot in socialist countries either.
The Italian government was much more efficient under Mussolini.
This is (part of) the tension. The last time the Italians concentrated the power of government, they ended up on the wrong side of a world war.
Having no tradition of the common law, Europeans do not do balanced power well. Better to have feeble government than efficient despotism.
A legend in his own mind is simply all he has left. If he goes into the media business I’m sure he will manage it with the acumen he did the country.
