Sarah Palin is criticizing President-elect Donald Trumps deal with Carrier, even as she is reportedly under consideration to serve as Trump's secretary of Veterans Affairs.
In a op-ed in Young Conservatives published Friday, the former Alaska governor first expresses excitement for the Carrier employees whose jobs are staying in Indiana. What a relief for hundreds of workers, she wrote. Merry Christmas Indiana!
But she goes onto to blast the deal as crony capitalism" and an example of the "hallmark of corruption" and "socialism."
When government steps in arbitrarily with individual subsidies, favoring one business over others, it sets inconsistent, unfair, illogical precedent, Palin wrote. Then, special interests creep in and manipulate markets. Republicans oppose this, remember?
Instead, we support competition on a level playing field, remember? Because we know special interest crony capitalism is on big fail.

“Look, after 8 years of a moribund economy with skilled jobs being shipped overseas by the cargo load, I have no problem whatsoever with Trump doing some heavy lifting to overcome inertia. Lets get things going in the right direction before we even start sniping.”
+1
Pence is governor.
Will be eager to see if he does it. Then we will shift to competing charter schools that you can choose across zip codes with boards comprised of NGO’s Corporate interests, non-profits that are appointed. These PRIVATE Schools will be funded with tax-payer dollars. Like the Turkish run Gulen Harmomy Schools.
Levin said the same thing last night.
I think the Carrier deal was portrayed as an example of what was to come: companies KEEPING more of what they earn and inventive is CREATED to hire more people and stay in the states.
At first blush, it appears Palin has jumped the shark on this one. The $7MM tax break (spread over ten years) was previously offered to Carrier before Trump entered the picture. Carrier turned it down. IOW, the $7MM tax incentive was not Trump’s idea. Trump sweetened the pot with his proposed corporate tax breaks for ALL U.S. companies, which can only occur after his inauguration. No favoritism or cronyism. It is strategic planning.
Synchronized menstrual systems.
I think we should reward companies that build new manufacturing plant, expand operations and hire Americans in the US. Lower their tax and regulatory burden. Let the small competitors in. You can’t offer deals to every company that threatens to move, because then they’ll all threaten to move to get a deal. These companies that have been outsourcing and laying off American workers by the train load can go to hell. Let these old corporate relics face the new, lighter, and AMERICAN competition.
But wait, we can retrain that 53 yr old and he can become a network engineer overnight. Oh wait there our no jobs for an american trained network engineer. This was a sample of what can happen. whad up Sarah??
She’s right in principal of course but at a state level is different than at a federal level for sure. I also suspect that this is a one off to get the great press and I’m fine with that. This shows the link between a good tax environment and business.
We dont yet know terms of the public/private deal that was cut to make the company stay, but lets hope every business is equally incentivized to keep Americans working in America
I will too.
I believe that he is a no-nonsense guy. He wants our kids educated better, and he does not want them indoctrinated to hate the Unite States, or love evil lifestyles.
How he would approach all this, I don’t know.
I do think he will though.
Easy to understand:
1. Companies NEED tax and regulatory relief, or they will leave the US and take jobs with them.
2. Trump told them what was coming once he gets in office.
3. Trump cut a deal to give them the benefit now to stay, knowing what will come.
4. Trump sent a message to every other company.
5. Trump signaled he was entirely serious about his promises.
6. He sent a clear message to every country in NAFTA and especially Mexico, that it is no longer business as usual.
7. He rubbed it in Zero’s face.
8. He gave his supporters a very fast win - even before January - confirming their good judgement.
9. He dominated the media and message.
10. He saved 1,000 working class jobs, sending a great message to them and union guy that he does care about them.
Not bad Mr. Trump!
I’m not tired of winning yet!
I think there is a difference between tax relief that is merely an advance coming to all, and special “tax breaks.”
Coulter and Palin need to relax, and get back in the kitchen for awhile.
I think we are the only two who read Palin’s op-ed.
There’s about a thousand or so AMERICANS who won’t be out of a job this Christmas because he kept his promise.
That’s a damned fine thing. Time for putting US first.
He’s keeping faith with the American people who elected him, and that was his first promise.
As for Sarah... I think she’s wonderful, amazing, and completely up to any task he puts her in, but she’s off the porch on this one.
That is, IF she actually said it.... could be nothing more than an attempt to creat discord.
