Sarah Palin is criticizing President-elect Donald Trumps deal with Carrier, even as she is reportedly under consideration to serve as Trump's secretary of Veterans Affairs.
In a op-ed in Young Conservatives published Friday, the former Alaska governor first expresses excitement for the Carrier employees whose jobs are staying in Indiana. What a relief for hundreds of workers, she wrote. Merry Christmas Indiana!
But she goes onto to blast the deal as crony capitalism" and an example of the "hallmark of corruption" and "socialism."
When government steps in arbitrarily with individual subsidies, favoring one business over others, it sets inconsistent, unfair, illogical precedent, Palin wrote. Then, special interests creep in and manipulate markets. Republicans oppose this, remember?
Instead, we support competition on a level playing field, remember? Because we know special interest crony capitalism is on big fail.

Pence is still the governor in Indiana, something that needs to be taken into consideration.
*You* miss the point. If Trump gave a tax break to everyone across the board, that’s one thing; but for the government to involve itself like this with an individual company, that’s crony capitalism.
Palin is 100% correct.
In itself, your statement implies that Trump is a snowflake.
Reagan lowered taxes ACROSS THE BOARD. That’s the difference. Please don’t go rewriting history.
Oh, this takes me back!
Dubya: “I’ve abandoned free market principles to save the free market system.”
All this cr@p about “ideological purity” is nothing but cr@p. The bottom line is do you want a free society or a fascist state?
Can't figure Palin or Coulter these days.
Menopause
State legislators can be crony capitalists, too.
So?
It’s the same point.
And if you are paying attention, this was a deal that involves the state of Indiana, as Trump hasn’t been sworn-in.
This isn’t even a federal issue.
LOL! Was on my mind but opted to “take the high road”. Thanks for reminding me that honesty isn’t always “pretty”.
True - it seems that most folks are taking it as an anti-Trump deal and ignoring what you say and the fact that it has been a bargaining chip for a long time in a lot of States trying to draw/keep businesses.
Good point, and it’s one many people don’t even realize exists.
Crony Capitalism?
Didn’t like it when Obama did it?
There’s a link to her comments here somewhere, and folks just don’t get it. (some of them)
Under those comments #NeverTrumpers are trashing Trump big-time and so are Leftists.
This is the result of her brain dead comments.
She starts of by saying she doesn’t know what the deal was. Then shut the heck up!
I came so close to writing an article here this morning titled, “Look at me! Look at me! Look at me! Carping Tunnel Syndrome...”
Mark Levin, Newt Gingrich, and now Sarah Palin just can’t keep their mouths shut. Levin of course has a radio program where he needs to express his views, but he constantly trashes Trump. He just can’t get over it that Cruz wasn’t who he thought he was, and he wants to cut Trump down to size to prove he was right.
All three are unwittingly, “To heck with the nation, as long as I can sound wise on the public stage trashing Donald Trump.”
Remember John McCain and his Maverick dog n pony show from 2001 on? That’s exactly what these folks are doing. Trump isn’t even president and they’re trashing him.
The man needs to build momentum to curry public favor, and here Levin, Gingrich, and Palin are chipping away at his support.
You can see folks on the three threads touching on this issue this morning. Folks are saying Sarah is exactly right. NO! She is exactly wrong.
Trump spent 17 months telling folks he was going to use tax breaks and deregulation to keep jobs here, and bring others home to the U.S. So what does Palin do, she pipes up to say he should do this for all businesses across the board. Gee thanks Sarah. What a brilliant idea. Too bad it took you eighteen months to grasp that’s what Trump said in June of 2015.
Now I’m sure her supporters will claim Sarah is the reason why Trump expanded his Carrier deal across the board.
Geez, do we have some idiots around these parts or what?
Palin is toast. 18 month old toast.
Since June of 2015, Trump has been saying he wants to cut taxes and implement deregulation to keep jobs here and bring others back.
Sarah still didn’t get the memo.
Her comments have now inspired FReepers and others to join in criticizing Trump’s move with Carrier.
Honest to God, we have some of the biggest idiots around these parts, at times.
Levin, Newt, Palin, shut the hell up!
Trump saves 1000 jobs and gets called a purveyor of chroney capitalism for his efforts.
And you miss the point that without those tax cuts, Carrier would have moved its plant to Mexico and made even more money and paid fewer taxes.
Crony capitalism and protectionism have been the concerns about his approach.
IMO all are correct to reiterate their lack of support for that while, like Sarah not questioning the unconfirmed re: Carrier.
I don’t buy into crony capitalism or protectionism concerns that others do.
The verdict is in. There are worse things that the above, and 45,000,000 people out of work, it’s time to try something else.
I don’t expect any of us will change your mind.
LOL! Was on my mind but opted to take the high road. Thanks for reminding me that honesty isnt always pretty.
