Bravo for the forward-looking team at Commentary. Unburdened by illusion that Donald Trump can or will turn this thing around, they have proceeded straightaway to the next important conversation: What comes next for Americas battered Republican Party? Noah Rothman writes: Reunification and a recapitulation of something resembling a national governing coalition must be the foremost priority. Thats clearly true!
How to do it?
Rothmans answer is to try to reconstitute conservatism as it used to be, refined by the famous autopsy of 2013. The problem is that pro-Trump Republicans may not agree that Trumpism failed. They may not be amenable to a reconciliation based on acknowledging that they, uniquely, were wrongand that their defeated party opponents were in the right all along.

Unfortunately, McCain, Hoeven, Murkowsky and Rubio were not removed from office after their betrayal of voting for the Gang of Eight amnesty.
Heller, Corker, Hatch and Flake come up in 2018, time to start planning their replacement.
Graham and Alexander have to wait until 2020.

Two words.
Donald Trump!
Two more.
November eighth!
That ought to about do it.
Thanks America.
It’s so cute to see folks on the Left and GOPe Right straining to grasp meaning these days.
This is too rich! The ONLY way to fix the republican party is to get right with Trump and the people who elected him. Your good old Chamber of Commerce, country club party is dead!
So hard to pick between The Atlantic’s or The Huffington Post’s or The Nation’s helpful suggestions for how Republicans should run their party. They all have our best interests at heart.
The Democrat party, after Barack Obama, is in its worst electoral shape nationally, at the state level and at the local level since before Roosevelt won in 1932.
The Leftists at the Atlantic are worried about the GOP “being battered”?
We just rebuilt it with Trump election! GOPe BEWARE the Voter!-)
But the Republican party WILL change. Come 2020, we won't recognize the Republican Party that we know today.
Thanks, I can put this right next to my President Hillary Clinton Newsweek issue.
Which turd floating in the National Review punchbowl wrote this?
“How to Rebuild the Republican Party”
Why?
“How to Rebuild the Buggy Whip Industry”.
Posted as an aid to your idea.
The GOP might need some of these
