President-elect Donald Trump has chosen retired Marine Gen. James N. Mattis to be secretary of defense, nominating a former senior military officer who led operations across the Middle East to run the Pentagon less than four years after he hung up his uniform, according to people familiar with the decision.

Great quote!!
Despite the fact that I’m retired Army, let’s a hear a loud “OORAH!” for “Mad Dog” Mattis! Finally a warrior to run the Department of Defense!
As noted above, the confirmation hearings should be quite entertaining. At this point, I’m planning to set my DVR to record CSPAN when the Mattis and Flynn hearings occur.
(Are indoor fireworks legal in DC...?)
Has that Patton look. Love it.

Me too! Can you post a Patton photo alongside this one. The likeness is astounding. Obviously, it is more than skin deep.
“Morning again in America.”
This, together with the selection of General Flynn as national security advisor, more than compensates for the rather disappointing pick of the Goldman Sachs/Hollywood Munchkin [sic] as Secretary of the Treasury. Let’s hope that Mad Dog gets the waiver he needs, and that we’ll wind up with someone other than Romney as Secretary of State.
I LIKE the sound of this guy! ;)
Looks like a “Magnificent Bastard” doesn’t he?
Wonder how he feels about the “sweeties” in the military these days?
Can’t wait to see who he taps for head of DOJ. Let’s hope that makes the democrat weasels pee themselves.
I know Donald Trump consulted with Levin first. /sarc
Perfect.
Nobody is going to mess with us now...but if they are so foolish as to do so, we’re going to rip out their living guts and use them to grease the treads of our tanks, we’re going to go through them like $hit through a goose. We’re going to grab’em by the balls and kick’em in the ass. Y’all get the Pattonesque idea...because Mad Dog sure does.
Best choice yet.
Well not that I see much reason for the law but they did it for General Marshall in 1950.
Mattis wouldn’t be the first defense secretary to require a congressional waiver. President Harry Truman appointed Gen. George Marshall to the position in 1950, nearly five years after he retired from the Army. Congress granted the waiver (at the time, the interval between active duty and defense secretary service was 10 years).
