What's the opinion or consensus on this guy and/or the tax changes? I am NOT a fan of class warfare and I feel like when they don't cut the taxes for the rich, there's an element of punishment.
Why can't everyone single American get the same tax cuts? Why make people that make more foot more of the bill?
It means more bank bail outs.
I don’t know anything about this person, frankly.
But I was relieved to hear that Manoj Tiwari takes over as Delhi BJP chief replacing Satish Upadhyay.
That one had me worried.
Good to see ya sj2001.
Goldman Sachs has my antennae up but otherwise I’m in wait-and-see mode - I don’t know his intentions. I do know we have one hell of a financial problem to unwind and it’s a gargantuan task that requires a top financial professional to address it.
I don’t know; I’ve never Mnuched.
It depends on what I’m munchin on..
“It means more bank bail outs.”
complete bullshit.
Cabinet heads exist SOLELY to carry out a Presidents orders. Period. Theyre like VPs in a corporation who exist solely to implement the CEOs policy and philosophy. Their jobs are NOT to set policy and philosophy, but to IMPLEMENT policy and philosophy. They all know that when theyre appointed.
Please let me know so I can come down on the “right” side. Otherwise, you know.
He’s good.
If Trump is happy with the guy (and as a bonus if the left is tweaked), I am more than fine with it.
I also do not care about the Secretary of State job. I only care about AG, DoD, Homeland Security, and HHS
Well, he’s like the 3rd Goldman person and Trump claimed Goldman was bad (or at least his supporters did).
That said, aside from the rank hypocrisy this reveals, they seem like solid picks.
He’s not Petraeus, I like that about him. #nopetraeus
I want to know more about his Soros connection.
I know FR is opposed to carpet mnuchin.
Other than being concerned that he will be nicknamed “munchkin”, I have no particular idea. I am not a slavish devotee eg; “Trump can do no wrong”, but in general I trust his multi-instance ability to select not just good, but superb talent.
Now you may bring up Romney. That of course gives me pause. I don’t want Mitt anywhere near anything of prime importance, but I would not mind having him near something of subprime importance. It is my belief, and only my belief, that Mitt might be being interviewed for something less than SOS. And he might not accept it. I don’t really care; I absolutely and utterly do not want him as SOS, that is all I care about.
As far as I am concerned, this whole thing, this whole election episode is subliminally dominated by the egregious overreaches of the 0bama admin. If it was not for the crap that he pulled, we would not be worried about executive orders revoking parts of the Constitution or invalidating this or that law. We SHOULD NOT HAVE to be so damned worried about who wins the election because such a person is supposed to operate within the law. And we know, or we think we know the law, generally accept it, and work with and within it.
I have 100 times more confidence than Donald Trump, warts and all, will stay within the law than I have that BHO will. He will make a few mistakes. He will make, I am confident, many more good moves than mistakes. Such is unavoidable. It USED TO be avoidable, but then the country elected 0bama and got a pile of crap in the deal. The country looks like a venue where an 0bama rally was held: littered with trash. For the moment it is impossible for me to believe we could do worse.
I don’t like the Goldman connection.
What’s not to like about a Goldman-Sachs + Soros + Hollywood insider?
Ranks up with all the core values espoused at FR./sarc
Cut taxes across the board by 25% by allowing each taxpaying worker to work one year in 4 exempt of federal income taxes. And no taxes at all after age 65.
MAGA
If you think everyone on FR shares a common opinion about nearly *anything*, you haven’t been here long...
“I want to know more about his Soros connection.”
The big connection that I have heard, is that Mnuchin, along with other investors (including Soros), invested money in buying some distressed banks after the financial crisis. Those banks were being sold for pennies on the dollar.
It is not clear to me that they had any other relationship, beyond participating in backing the same deal, when there was a virtual fire sale going on, and lots of people with cash were signing on for a piece.
