The president-elect of the United States is a notorious troll a fact which his promise to ban Muslims from entering the country, threat to imprison and strip Americans of citizenship for exercising their First Amendment rights, and widespread insulting of people online all make clear. We now learn via Slate that the two technology platforms Donald Trump uses most prominently to spread his messages of hate and division, Twitter and Facebook, take a very different stance on how to respond to future instances of harassment by Trump. Namely, Twitter says it would consider suspending his account. Facebook, which CEO Mark Zuckerberg (mostly) denies contributed to Trump's victory by means of spreading fake news, not so much. The publication reached out to Twitter directly and inquired whether top government officials could ever lose access to their accounts for violating the site's rules. The Twitter Rules prohibit violent threats, harassment, hateful conduct, and multiple account abuse, and we will take action on accounts violating those policies, a spokesperson responded. When asked if those standards apply to Trump, who The Guardian reports will soon be given the handle @POTUS, the spokesperson replied in the affirmative. The Twitter Rules apply to all accounts, including verified accounts. Twitter has previously banned so-called "alt-right" a.k.a. white supremacist trolls. That the future president of this country could fall into that category reflects a sad state of affairs. And yet, according the company, Twitter Rules are Twitter Rules. If Trump violates them, his account could be sanctioned in some form or another. Facebook, for its part, says it has a slightly more nuanced view of things.

Our country has been granted a reprieve, NOW the hard work starts....First, we have to take back the culture and a HUGE part of that is to establish fair and impartial Social Media sites to replace Twitter and Facebook.
Few realize social media/discussion sites have a finite lifespan of about 7-10 years. They may not die outright, but they do - and I’ve seen it happen numerous times - go from nothing to “XYZ dominates the information age” to a vague memory within that time. Facebook & Twitter seem the next likely candidates, overrun by blah content as everyone wants to be where everyone is, then leaves because the signal-to-noise ratio collapses. All we need are suitable replacements.
Public accommodation. Bake the damn cake, Zuckerberg.
Progressive, aggressive, and violent Marxists are really ugly when they lose.
Isn’t Zuckerberg head of Facebook?
Twitter, if you want your business to die from stupid decisions then make my day and do it. Do it.
Funded by Trump no doubt.
Think how much fun you would have shutting down all the liberal yaketty yak.
Conservatives aren’t very good at creating stuff but we do know how to beat our enemies with our wallets. Can you tell me the conservative versions of facebook, pinterest, reddit and yelp?
Drudge should buy twitter. Drudge SHOULD have put together a group to buy Yahoo! Too late now though.
Start shorting Twitter.
That ought to happen anyway.
This is actually pretty silly on Twitter’s part. If they do that, then President Trump could simply have a web site set up and call it: The President Talks to the People, or whatever, and convey anything he chooses to convey to the American people.
is there a conservative alternative to facebook?
-—————The left is having hard time...>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Yes they are and it looks good on them, to have their community organizing organs used against them.
I love it.
And if Zuckerberg is not careful, he may find himself sued , losing control of his company in the process. The Donald and his family do not fool around.
Trump should threaten investigations into twitter if they do so-
Would immediately make Gab.ai THE dominant social media force.
Double dare ya a-holes. Somebody will just come along to blow you out of the water in competition.
