Wisconsin election officials pledged Monday they would oversee a fast and fair recount of the presidential vote there, as they race to beat a federal deadline for getting it done, but they declined a request to conduct the new tally by hand.
The Wisconsin Elections Commission signed off on a breakneck pace that would have local officials coordinating the recount with them this week and starting the actual recount near the end of the week. State officials must have their new tally completed by December 13, according to federal law.
Citing those speed concerns, the panel shot down a request from former Green Party candidate Jill Stein that the ballots be counted by hand.
"If nothing else, this is going to give us a very good audit, it's going to re-assure Wisconsin voters that we have a fair system, that we're not counting illegal votes," said Elections Commission chairman Mark Thomsen.
He strongly defended the vote count.
"To say we didn't count them correctly the first time... that somehow illegal votes were counted... is really inappropriate," Thomsen said. "I don't think we'll find in this that our fellow citizens counted these votes (in)accurately -- going to reassure -- not counting illegal votes ... We're not counting dead people's votes."
Wisconsin elections administrator Mike Haas said that if the recount battle moves to the courts, after the commission announces the new tally, it will be out of the commission's hands. But he cast doubt on it ever reaching the level of the 2000 recount.
"This is certainly not Bush v. Gore," Haas said. "The likelihood of an appeal is certainly different from the context of that case."

Good!
Jill and her beach house.... follow the money.
I hope some of the extra votes for Hilliary on election night disappear, making the margin larger.
Democrats will do everything they can to slow down the process.
So the fee has been paid in full? Careful!
@DRJillStein
Democracy Now! Open the donor lists. Tell us who is paying for the recount!
Is the expectation that the recount in Wisconsin will be over soon and come to nothing? We know the whole strategy is to deny Trump 270 votes before deadline, throw it to the House of Representatives, and declare Trump’s Presidency illegitimate.
Wisconsin probably isn't the best place to detect that kind of fraud.
I WI Dems knew how to cheat, Walker wouldn’t have won three elections.

Wisconsin Elections Commission unanimously okays timeline for presidential recount
MADISON The Wisconsin Elections Commission has unanimously
approved a timeline for the presidential vote recount in the state.
Heres a look at what was established on Monday morning, November 28th:
4:30 p.m. Monday: Wisconsin Elections Commission will provide estimated recount
fee to the petitioning candidates. (A preliminary estimate is around $1.1 million.)
4:30 p.m. Tuesday: Petitioning candidates must pay recount
fee in full.
10 a.m. Wednesday: Elections Commission will hold a
teleconference with clerks about the recount process.
Thursday, Dec. 1: Commission wants the recount to begin
in all 72 counties.
Monday, Dec. 12: Commission wants county clerks to submit
recount results by 8:00 p.m.
Tuesday, Dec. 13: Commission will meet to certify results
by federally mandated deadline.
As of now, county clerks are allowed to conduct recount by hand or by machine. That would
change only if a judge orders clerks to hand-count all ballots.

They are having to pay before the count begins on Thursday.

If I am not mistaken, Wisconsin has a Republican Governor, Republican majority in both houses of the Legislature and three out of five appointments to the Wisconsin Supreme Court. Although any legislative action would require Gov. Walker to call a special session, and I would expect the democrats to boycott causing a lack of a quorum, I expect the Wisconsin Supreme Court to reverse any predictably partisan democrat rulings by a crazy Dane County judge.
I’m not worried about Wisconsin.
An 11/22/2016 spreadsheet containing ward-by-ward results of the county canvasses was made available as “UNCERTIFIED Ward by Ward Report-President”.
(see bottom of page for the spreadsheet to download)

Normally, these results probably would have been certified Dec 1st.
(Wisconsin calls them “Official results from all 72 counties ...”)
There is no way the recount will produce anything substantially different.
Wisconsin would normally go into their voting equipment auditing procedures on Dec 1. to be completed by 12/15/2016.
This audit will now be delayed because of the recount.
Wisconsin Democrats are INSANE.
Democrat legislators fled the state to prevent quorum.
Democrats brought an endless series of “John Doe” lawsuits.
Democrats took over the capitol building with 10’s of thousands.
Democrats tried to recall Walker.
Do not for a minute underestimate them.
The left is riding a suicide train, and we should let them. Their communist politics are their religion; they’re zealots. They just had their ass handed to them, and considering the midterms, this is a movement not a one time thing. They can’t see it because they’re true believers, so they double down on the crazy.
