Amazon removes negative reviews of Megyn Kelly's memoir

It appears Amazon has decided to remove some negative reviews of Megyn Kelly's new autobiography, "Settle for More," after groups of pro-Donald Trump internet "trolls" decided to leave one-star reviews en masse.
A report from Slate Tuesday showed that more than 75 percent of the book's reviews were one star, but by Wednesday morning, USA Today noted that that number had been reduced to 17 percent.

It appears that Amazon simply removed reviews by people that weren't "Verified Purchasers". A few more have crept in today, but most of the 1-star reviews remaining are verified.
A quick scan of the other ratings confirms the same thing: they simply removed reviews from the online trolls that had no record of purchasing the book.

I am willing to bet the reviews are better reading than the book. I know I laughed a lot when I read the reviews for Stronger Together.

MEgyn, already an attorney, saw Dr. Phil on TV, late one night when she couldn’t sleep and was feeling all pooky about herself. Dr Phil said, basically, “people need to settle for more in life!”. MEgyn then decided that she needed to me on TV, and did so. There. End of book. One Star.

The positive Five Star reviews are as partisan as the One Star reviews, but there is no publisher leaning on Amazon to delete them. Actually Amazon has deleted thousands of one star reviews, but they keep coming!
There is nothing they can do to make, "Settle for More" a good book. Once the salacious details are well known there is no reason to buy the book.

The reviews were obviously from people who had not read the book, but from people who didn't like her.
As Amazon customers, my wife and I take the reviews seriously, as they impact our wallets.
Kudos to Amazon for trying to maintain integrity of their review system, although it usually is not that easy to spot abuse.
Although sometimes abuse is useful (Veet for Men).
