While Thanksgiving often provokes warm and fuzzy thoughts about Pilgrims and American Indians, there is a deeper and more important story regarding the origin of the popular holiday.
Happy Thanksgiving all !
Didn’t yet listen to the whole thing (it’s late), but he’s got a good radio voice.
You enjoy the holiday, too!
I really wasn’t sure which direction he was going to go with this, but this video is amazing!!
Maybe the most annoying thing of all is how few people really mark the occasion by giving thanks to the Lord.
Happy Thanksgiving to you too, my dear!
Amen to that.
So, be annoyed. You’re wrong.
Many many Americans praise our Lord every single day. I’m one.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and don-o from up here in the snowy rockies.
Rush has told this story before. I can remember him recounting this at least on a couple of occasions.
Saw it yesterday. Excellent! More folks need to see it.
Maybe it’ll be on today’s show :)
The basic theme of this whole thing is that once people were allowed to keep what they grew, etc. Production and availability improved. It showed that welfare systems inevitably fail when the individual profit motive (ownership) is taken away.
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone (and you too, Redneck).
2Cor 4: 15-16
Must be who you know....nearly everyone I know does. I do (literally)
True nuff, when one gets into more devotional circles. But I haven’t always been there, and can’t choose family. By marriage on my brother’s family’s side, my extended family has gained more screaming lefties (I refuse to say liberals, it is illiberal). Oh joy, Uncle Redneck is so fuddy duddy conservative.
And I. Every day. No. matter. what.
“God” has so many faces and speaks in all languages, silent and oral, manifests in infinite ways even if we do not recognize the ways. It doesn’t matter as each of us is a “Way”.
Being a Buddhist, Mahayana, I am sceptical about much but not God.
We should be grateful for this country in its infinite beauty and our articulation of human beauty, governmental laws, and being truly free as long as we don’t advocate death without jury trial to another human.
We would be extraordinarily stupid to witlessly destroy what we as a nation have put together, affiliated yet individuated.
Aw what’s being a Scrooge without being a Grinch too?
Actually I question the premise of the present thread. Why are people even MIXING “Pissed” and a national day of thanksgiving?
Being grateful requires acknowledging a sentient entity. I’d scarcely say “thank my cranberry sauce” (an entity that is not sentient) though I might thank the people who furnished it. And beyond that, a very sentient God who arranged for those people to be there and do that.
