Thousands of attorneys have signed a letter opposing the appointment of Steve Bannon as President-elect Donald Trumps chief strategist and senior counselor.
Bannon has a long history of making bigoted comments and has been accused of domestic abuse and being anti-Semitic. Under his executive chairmanship, Breitbart has trafficked widely in white nationalism and homophobic and sexist content.
The more than 15,000 lawyers who signed the letter co-authored by Nancy Leong, associate professor at University of Denver law school, called on members of Congress to take all possible measures to make Trump rescind his appointment of Mr. Bannon:
As attorneys, we swore an oath to uphold the Constitution. We committed to protect the institutions upon which our democracy depends. We committed to provide zealous representation for all our clients, regardless of their race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, or any other characteristic.
Mr. Bannon has demonstrated his opposition to the stable, democratic form of government that our profession embraces and strives to maintain. His words could not be more clear: Lenin wanted to destroy the state, and thats my goal, too . . . I want to bring everything crashing down, and destroy all of todays establishment. This contempt for our longstanding governmental institutions has no place in a crucial leadership position.
Many of the signatories to the letter self-identify as conservative or libertarian, Leong wrote in an email to The Huffington Post. Opposing the appointment of someone who has enabled white nationalism and other hate-based ideologies is not a partisan issue.

Does that make them transervatives? Modern life is so confusing.
Just don't touch any of the subway poles or guide rails.
15,000 lawyers? You can troll that many in one pass with a slow-moving ambulance.
Where were they when Clinton was running?
I didn’t see them opposing her...
LEGAL BUBBLE POPS.., there are about 1.2 MILLION lawyers in America.
So 15,000 might sound like a lot, but it isn't.
You lose again, Huffington Puffington Post.

On line petitions are hack bait.
HuffPuff isn’t the MSM. It’s a radical far-left rag.
There are over 15,000 lawyers within 5 city blocks in Washington DC
How I do love watching weasels whine, whimper and whinny! Effing weasels...
LMAO!!!!
Huffington Piss.
More than 15,000? Over 61 million “signed” up approving his and soon to be many other appointments and on December 19th, 306 will confirm their choice.
Elections have consequences.
JoMa
More than 60 million of us signed a letter approving of Bannon when we voted 2 weeks ago. So the jackass commie lawyers can go pound sand and shove where the sun don’t shine. Hillary lost and her commie lawyers are powerless.
Best election ever.
....and how many of the corrupt 15,000 went after Barry and his forged Government documents? Ahhh, zero!
To those 15,000 genius who are smarter than everyone else>please go away
This anti-Semitic, Nazi crap is getting awfully tiresome. Do any of these clowns realize that Trump's son-in-law is Jewish, his daughter converted to Judaism and their children are being raised as Jewish?
Total smear job. Unless someone hates whites and participates with calling whites racists, the extreme left-wing makes these childish charges.
That's my favorite line.
Fits Obama more than Bannon. I’m sure they opposed him too...no?
in a related story, 15,000 lawyers have asked President Elect Trump to step down and cede the election to Hillary...in a related story, 15,000 lawyers have asked Donald J Trump to give his entire real estate empire including all assets to the Clinton Foundation....
