President-elect Donald Trump has decided that his administration will not pursue criminal investigations related to former rival Hillary Clinton’s private email server or her family foundation, his campaign manager said Tuesday.
Trump’s apparent decison, conveyed by campaign manager Kellyanne Conway in an interview on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,’’ would be an extraordinary break with political and legal protocol, which holds that the Attorney General and FBI makes decisions on whether to conduct investigations and file charges, free of pressure from the president.
During his campaign, Trump had issued incendiary calls for a special prosecutor to re-open the FBI’s closed investigation of Clinton’s use of a private server while Secretary of State and had also urged investigations of allegations of corruption at the Clinton Foundation. He nicknamed the Democratic nominee “Crooked Hillary” and encouraged chants of “Lock her up!” at his rallies.

I know nothing substantive from a WaPo or other MSM quote of Conway, frankly. We are dealing with devious slugs in the MSM and they have not given up. They are more pissed than ever.
Don't be phased by this. Trump and Conway know what they are doing Trump will be the President, not the Emperor. There is an FBI investigation into the Clinton Foundation going on. As President, Trump can't just decree that that should be called off. Trump is shrewdly signaling he is going to be busy running the country to think about HRC. You can bet HRC knows she's not off the hook; you can bet she'd still welcome a pardon from Obama before leaves office. In fact, Trump just did HRC no favors here, as HRC now has less leverage with which to beg Obama to grant her a pardon. Obama can shrug and say, “Hillary, Hillary, what are you so worried about? Trump said he isn't going to go after you!”
The optimal situation for cases like this MIGHT be that she’d leave the Rats, become a Trump GOP booster, and go around for the rest of her days confessing to the world what a fool she had been and how wise the Trump concept (which is actually God’s plan, moving Trump) is.

It will be up to the FBI and Sessions on 21 January.
Presidents don’t direct investigations. This is most likely a way to show the executive will not be directing an investigation.
I believe the GOP House will demand a special independent prosecutor and Sessions will comply. That’s how it is supposed to work.

The President cannot appoint a Special Prosecutor anyway. He can ask. But Congress must appoint.

Watch the video and then tell me if Kellyanne said anything that would lead you to believe that Trump is letting Hillary off the hook. I don't see it.

Trump has almost 100% control over the DOJ. His control of the US Dept of Justice is virtually plenary, and he absolutely has the LEGITIMATE authority to instruct DOJ to investigate thoroughly, completely, and constantly. AFTER an indictment is obtained, his authority ends.
But this crap about it’s not in his hands is just that: crap.
No way. One, Obama isn't going to be Secretary of State, accepting de facto bribes form foreign governments. The Clintons are in a class by themselves when it comes to that type of stuff.
Folks, Trump is a shrewd s.o.b. Anyone who thinks this is genuinely good news for HRC is naive. What Trump has done is make it harder for HRC to plead with Obama for a pardon, because Obama can now argue there's no need for one. However, the reality is that there is still an FBI investigation that is chugging along quietly. I don't believe for a second that Trump is going to interfere with that. Why should he? If there is really something to find there, and the FBI announces such in, say, two years, no one is going to blame Trump if it comes out and he has said nothing about HRC all along. By saying nice things about HRC now, Trump is innoculating himself from claims later that he was behind anything the FBI releases down the road. Trump can later claim, “Look, I'm the President, but I can't order the FBI to stop investigations they started before I was in office just because I feel sorry for the person they are investigating!”

That could be too. Hint that if she goes on the straight and narrow, Donald will have no more to condemn her with. But if she fails (and most people here would believe that she would fail) then she gets addressed like King Solomon addressed his father’s enemies who broke their leniency conditions. Lose 10 lbs. in a hurry from the neck upward, or our modern equivalent.
