Turkey is a nation in crisis, scarred by government crackdowns following a failed coup attempt and on a potential collision course with the West. It is also home to a valuable revenue stream for the president-elect's business empire: Trump Towers Istanbul.
Donald Trump's company has been paid up to $10 million by the tower's developers since 2014 to affix the Trump name atop the luxury complex, whose owner, one of Turkey's biggest oil and media conglomerates, has become an influential megaphone for the country's increasingly repressive regime.
That, ethics advisers said, forces the Trump complex into an unprecedented nexus: as both a potential channel for dealmakers seeking to curry favor with the Trump White House and a potential target for attacks or security risks overseas.
The president-elect's Turkey deal marks a harrowing vulnerability that even Trump has deemed "a little conflict of interest": A private moneymaker that could open him to foreign influence and tilt his decision-making as America's executive in chief.

Trump says he can handle it so let him handle it.
Way back in 2014 I never thought that Trump would seriously run for President because I didn’t think he’d ever put his Trump empire into a blind trust.
Guess I was half right.
Hard to imagine anything Trump does could have more foreign influence than Obama/Clinton allowed.
Yeah, like MAGIC the words “ethics”,”Influence”, “conflict of interest”, and many other “OBSOLETE” terms will be brought back to the fore and will become a constant issue stirred by the so-called MEDIA.
And the man isn’t even in off ice yet. Wait until his title changes from President-Elect to Mr. President.
“NOW the media gets concerned about foreign conflicts of interest. ** snork ** “
Exactly. Now they are interested in foreign conflicts of interest now that Trump is President. They could care less about Hillary and her conflict of interest with all the foreign money flowing into the coffers of the Clinton Crime Foundation. They continually looked the other way with the Clintons.
How much did the Clinton Foundation get?
Oh, right, narrative set, write the stories to fit it. Starting with the time old favorite, Republicans are corrupt. (No need to report on exceptions who happen to be virtually every Democrat.)
be ye not concerned...... ass holes
So where was all this concern over the Clinton Foundation and other assorted financial hiding places for Clinton wealth?
I’m pretty sure there is no law that says pres Trump has to put anything into a blind trust-just the term sounds like something that isn’t a smart idea-this is just more elitist whining...
Get a life detractors....Trump WON.
Thank heavens.....
The irony really is just too rich.
Thankfully, there’s no concern with the Clinton Foundation’s foreign players.
I wondered what it would take to get the anchor of Clinton Cash on CNN, and now I know. Smerconish had him on to trash Trump.
It follows that if there is foreign government money owed to Trump, he needs an act of Congress to legally accept it after Inauguration Day.
- Article 1 Section 9:
- No title of nobility shall be granted by the United States: and no person holding any office of profit or trust under them, shall, without the consent of the Congress, accept of any present, emolument, office, or title,of any kind whatever, from any king, prince, or foreign state
The contrast with the Clinton Foundation is stark: the foundation solicited foreign government money while she was a federal official and a prospective Democrat presidential nominee, whereas the idea that Trump would be nominated - let alone elected - to national office was considered risible as recently as a year and a half ago. Thus Congress should enact wide latitude for Trump to wind down such business.
I think you’re reaching.
In what direction?
Simple solution: He is removed from all decision making and leadership and appoints someone to execute his business dealings.
In your interpretation of Article I, Section 9.
He did, his three kids.
