Trump says he can handle it so let him handle it.
Article 1 Section 9:
No title of nobility shall be granted by the United States: and no person holding any office of profit or trust under them, shall, without the consent of the Congress, accept of any present, emolument, office, or title,of any kind whatever, from any king, prince, or foreign state
It follows that if there is foreign government money owed to Trump, he needs an act of Congress to legally accept it after Inauguration Day.

The contrast with the Clinton Foundation is stark: the foundation solicited foreign government money while she was a federal official and a prospective Democrat presidential nominee, whereas the idea that Trump would be nominated - let alone elected - to national office was considered risible as recently as a year and a half ago. Thus Congress should enact wide latitude for Trump to wind down such business.

Um, that’s not how this sort of stuff works.

He really needs to get this out of the way as an issue.

(E.g., stop including Ivanka on calls with heads of state in countries where the family has business—if Ivanka is going to continue to co-lead that business.)
