Sen. Jeff Sessions is on record saying so-called sanctuary cities that protect illegal immigrants should be prosecuted. He himself may get that chance next year.
From his first day in office, Mr. Sessions will have the power to strip some federal funding from sanctuary cities, thanks to rulings this year by the Justice Departments inspector general, who said federal law requires localities to cooperate with immigration agents and who provided an initial list of a handful of the worst offenders.
The sanctuary cities thing is huge. I think most jurisdictions are going to fold like a cheap suit, said Rosemary Jenks, government relations manager at NumbersUSA, which lobbies for stricter immigration laws.

MAY?! It would be a dereliction of duty if he did not.
Sanctuary cities violate federal laws. Why wouldn’t you prosecute them?
Alternatively, we could just stop prosecuting anyone who violates any gun law on the books. I bet the Liberals would have an issue with that.
I cannot imagine how we got to this point. How does a city get by with ignoring people who are here illegally? I know they do and have for years, but it should not have ever happened.
I have been watching this unfold with the illegals for years and I couldn’t believe it when it started, and as it progressed. I do know it will be a tough fight to end it all though.
Step 1, take away funding. Step 2, impose fines that will go toward a border barrier. Step 3, prosecute individuals in city govt violating immigration law.
It’s kind of interesting when you think about it. Elected politicians are elected by citizens within their constituency represent them and to protect their needs as they pertain to the role of government.
So, when one of these guys proclaims his city a “sanctuary city”, who’s interests are they protecting/meeting?
How do their voters stand for this sort of thing?
May? Prosecute those who’ve violated law.
One more reason to cheer for Jeff Sessions and pray he gets through the process...
These sanctuary cities are all about money. These cities want the dollars-per-head that their school systems and other agencies get for illegal immigrants. That is why these cities protect illegals from federal laws.
Teachers’ unions and city planners do not want the dollars-per-head to stop flowing from the federal government.
As it is, firearms law violations are seldom prosecuted, particularly if it is not politically expedient.
Good, throw the book at them.
If he takes a TOP DOWN approach to Prosecuting Public Officials, it will be over Fast. I want to see Booking Photos of Moonbeam and LAPD Chief Charlie Beck
Is this what the left means when they ridicule nullification?
“How do their voters stand for this sort of thing?”
Guilt. They’ve been guilted into believing this is the right thing to do. No person is illegal and all that tripe.
If the first city council of a "sanctuary city" and the first DMV clerk to knowingly make a driver's license for an illegal alien had been tried and convicted of treason (aiding and abetting an invasion), all this could have been nipped in the bud.
a) Support US citizens
b) Support illegal immigrants, criminals, Muslim terrorists, and foreign countries who hate us.
Almost half of the US citizens who voted this year took the position: "Let's screw the US citizens!!"
Probably the work of an idiot editor.
In most years, about half say, "Let's screw the US taxpayers!!"
Of course, that is also the subtext to screwing US citizens...
So when a third world er child gets enrolled, none having any vaccinations, are they required to get immunization shots, or do they have "special rights" and don't have to?
Right? What am I missing here. I don't know the nature of this 'federal funding' going to the cities but I might be inclined to assume that some of the funds go to support needed programs that benefit the citizens of these cities. If a government official openly brags about breaking the law, what's to stop the feds from swearing out a warrant for their arrest and put them in handcuffs like any other criminal? I just don't get where these people think they have the power and authority to break the law.
