Sen. Jeff Sessions is on record saying so-called sanctuary cities that protect illegal immigrants should be prosecuted. He himself may get that chance next year.
Mr. Sessions is president-elect Donald Trumps pick to be the next attorney general, and if hes confirmed a very large if, at this point he will mark a 180-degree turn from the Obama administration on a host of issues, but nowhere more so than on immigration, where hes been the Senates leading crackdown proponent.
From his first day in office, Mr. Sessions will have the power to strip some federal funding from sanctuary cities, thanks to rulings this year by the Justice Departments inspector general, who said federal law requires localities to cooperate with immigration agents and who provided an initial list of a handful of the worst offenders.
The sanctuary cities thing is huge. I think most jurisdictions are going to fold like a cheap suit, said Rosemary Jenks, government relations manager at NumbersUSA, which lobbies for stricter immigration laws.

I hope Sen. Sessions will require that Federal law be enforced rather than nullified.
Who is the guy in the glasses suppose to be?
Well said, so do I.
I’ve been known, all these many years, for my pithy summaries.
It’s Milo Whatsis, but I don’t know what Les Miz character he’s being.
I almost spit out my tea. That is funny
What’s this “may” sh$t?
Thanks.I couldn’t figure out what Trump person it was suppose to be.
The bright bleach-blond hair is the key, along with being a youngish person.
Since they are breaking the law, they should also be forced to return all previously received funds, in addition to paying ginormous fines!!
Tie to go back to signs and gov forms only in English, too.
The best response yet to the “check your privelege” social justice wankers.
What a concept!
Any time you see the word “may” in a headline and a story, you know it is fake news.
ROFLMAO!!!
AWESOMENESS!!! They should be charged with aiding and abetting criminal activity at the very least.
glasses guy:
Milo Yiannopoulis
Fly a round-robin trip around the country serving arrest warrants, since they are aiding the invasion of the U.S. we could house them in the open cells in the sanctuary city of Gitmo! Call them what they are, war criminals.
This means he will likely sue and seek a Federal Court order.
When the municipality violates it, every paid official is subject to contempt, or worse, charges. The judge can order them to jail in 24hrs.
Which is what will happen if they go on TV saying they will not comply with the court order.
And, the POTUS can Federalize the National Guard of any state to remove obstructions to the implementation of Federal Law.
It would be sweet indeed to have the same power which enforced Brown vs Board of Education in Alabama now be used to enforce immigration law.
Yes, nothing could be sweeter than to see the federal government actually enforcing immigration law by arresting those enabling it and deporting the law breaking illegals.
