Donald Trumps surprising victory caused Silicon Valley tech stocks to suffer a 9 percent crash, while the rest of the stock market rallied to new all-time-highs.--------------They are getting the message...

The real issue for Foxconn moving iPhone assembly to America is China, where they employ about 690,000 workers, which about equals the entire population of Detroit.--------Hard to believe!

After devices are being found with spyware secretly installed in factories in China, I think there is more incentive to build them here.
Certainly this customer would prefer American made.

Nachum (so?)??
We need a list of WINNING.
To: DoughtyOne
Welp considering they are not his supporters I think it would be in their best interest to move at least SOME of the production here in the US instead of China.

Considering the profit Apple has been reporting off the iPhone sales, one would imagine that profit would be cut into pretty dramatically.
That said, JUST being able to repatriate their overseas funds at a lower rate would entirely pay for many of the new factories as well as give a cushion to prevent increases in retail price.

I think it takes about 1 man-hour to build an iPhone. They will be either the same price or just slightly higher.

First, the build cost of a iPhone is probably very small compared to the sell price. Then the labor is probably a small factor in the build cost. And even then, companies are learning that manufacturing onshore doesn’t carry the cost penalty it appears to on the surface. Lots of hidden or unexpected costs to make stuff over there, plus more strenuous quality control needed.

Okay. All you supply chain experts convinced me. I suppose it is also helpful that once they are built, they are already here.
