If that was Kanye West's way of announcing his candidacy, it could have gone better. On Thursday night, the 39-year-old rapper arrived late to his San Jose concert. Instead of jumping into his set list, West opted to rant about this year's presidential election.

"I told y'all I didn't vote, right? But if I were to vote, I would have voted on Trump," he told the crowd, who immediately began booing him.

I don't know if he has never voted, or just did not vote in 2016. If Kanye West ran and won in 2020, and if he had never voted before, it wouldn't be the first time a winning candidate had never voted for President before. I think that was true of Zachary Taylor...and, of course, of George Washington.

He may need to start thinking about a running mate. Maybe Beyoncé...if the Democratic Party is open to having a ticket with two African Americans on it. Beyoncé is 35 now so she is old enough.
