One of the hallmarks of President-elect Donald Trump’s campaign was his pledge to crack down on illegal immigration, most notably through construction of a more secure border wall and through the deportation of illegals who have committed further criminal acts while in the country.
However, a number of Democrat-dominated urban centers across the land have in turn pledged to resist Trump’s efforts by doubling down on their self-proclaimed status as “sanctuary cities” that won’t cooperate with federal officials in the enforcement of immigration laws.
While there have been numerous sanctuary cities, counties and states for several years under the non-leadership of President Barack Obama, there are seven cities that have distinctly reiterated their non-cooperative stance following Trump’s election.
Those cities are: Chicago, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, New York City, Philadelphia, San Francisco and Seattle.
The purported leaders of these cities, both political and in law enforcement, have vowed to oppose the incoming Trump administration’s efforts at upholding federal laws, in effect choosing to protect criminal illegal immigrants over their own citizens and the rest of the country.
A Trump administration could attempt to bring these cities in line with federal law through the court system, but that could prove expensive and time-consuming.
However, there is perhaps a better, more cost-efficient manner by which these cities could be compelled to cooperate with federal agencies, and that is through the withholding of federal funds to those particular jurisdictions.

The hell with that. Declare their statuses as insurrections and cut them off. Cut their utilities, and sift them as people come out.

You won’t have to worry about Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, and Los Angeles. All of those will be destroyed in the next 18 months due to natural, and not so natural, catastrophes.

I’d love to hear specifically what these programs are associated with these “targeted cuts” From what I’m reading most of the federal dollars are delivered at the state level in education and health services. Since these same states tend to have high state income and other taxes they can play hardball for quit a while.
If Trump just opens up several Border Patrol offices in non-compliant cities it should do the trick. You can bet the rent that local law enforcement will secretly play ball with them regardless of ‘official policy”.
When the illegals come to really believe Trump will deport them, they can and should all flood these sanctuary cities.

Absolutely their funding has to be cut off. They set a horrible example. Their mayors are promoting the breaking of laws, of criminal activity.

And bring in the feds to do the jobs they wont.

Before retiring, and during my working career I had the opportunity to turn down several jobs offered in Los Angeles. I have to admit I absolutely hate the place.

The illegals here are all based in Port Richmond.you don’t read much about them because I guess they’re not dumb enough to start committing crimes in a good neighborhood yet and attract attention to themselves. No MS-13 or anything out here. there’s got to be one bad neighborhood in San Francisco now? :) I am not familiar with it
I took the MetroLink from Upland today to L.A. Union Station to attend media day at the L.A. Auto Show. I am pleased to report that wearing my Trump hat on the train, in the 3rd World hellhole of Union Station, and in the cab to the hotel resulted in no confrontations.

Get Serious! You might get away with packing an apartment in some cities, but not in SF, and surely not in the fancy newly-built areas where the SV types are living. You can’t fart in the housing market in SF where the city “minders” don’t both hear and smell it! Plus the other tenants wouldn’t tolerate it. I am in the rental real estate business outside SF, and I understand how it works! Maybe in East Oakland, but not in SF.
