Texas Oilmen Push For Ted Cruz but Immigration Hard-Liners Want Dark-Horse Kris Kobach

A fight is brewing among forces behind the Trump transition over the future of the Justice Department, with separate factions pushing Texas Sen. Ted Cruz and Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach.

A cabal of wealthy Texas oilmen is aggressively promoting Cruz for attorney general, according to a person with direct knowledge of discussions behind the scenes who also said the one-time Trump rival wants the slot.

On Thursday a new wrinkle emerged, with the Trump transition team releasing a statement about a meeting between Trump and Alabama Sen. Jeff Sessions. Trump, the statement said, 'has been unbelievably impressed with Senator Sessions and his phenomenal record as Alabama's Attorney General and U.S. Attorney.' Those words suggest he is being considered to run the Justice Department.

A separate group of billionaires is encouraging the president-elect's team to embrace Kobach, citing his hard-line approach to restricting immigration across the board.

Those insiders want Trump to appoint Cruz to the U.S. Supreme Court instead.

LOL. Trump has blocked the path to the White House for climbing careerists. Now these freshmen Senators have ants in their pants.

Considering how the Senate GOP feels about Cruz, personally, I doubt he could get confirmed as Ambassador to Upper Volta.

first thoughts which came to my head was Bush.

Stick with Kobach. After the way Cruz acted I just can’t trust him, and then the way he was at the convention was disgusting.

That’s where I think you are wrong, they’d vote for confirmation to anything just to be rid of him.

Cruz’s training, experience, and temprament is more suited to Scotus. Running DOJ is a big administrative job and requires prosecutorial skils, Cruz has never run anything.

Think about it.
Do you really want Cruz to render a decision on natural born citizen?
From his perspective a child born to a Palestinian father and an American mother in Saudi Arabia is a natural born citizen eligible to be President and once that decision is rendered the natural born citizen clause is gutted for perpetuity.

DO NOT appoint the self-dealing, backstabbing Cruz as AG. And cannot trust him on birthright citizenship, among other immigration issues. Kobach however is ROCK SOLID.
