President-elect Donald J. Trumps transition was in disarray on Tuesday, marked by firings, infighting...
One week after Mr. Trump scored an upset victory that took him by surprise, his team was improvising the most basic traditions of assuming power. That included working without official State Department briefing materials in his first conversations with foreign leaders.
Two officials who had been handling national security for the transition, former Representative Mike Rogers of Michigan and Matthew Freedman, a lobbyist who consults with corporations and foreign governments, were fired. Both were part of what officials described as a purge orchestrated by Jared Kushner, Mr. Trumps son-in-law and close adviser.
The dismissals followed the abrupt firing on Friday of Gov. Chris Christie of New Jersey, who was replaced as chief of the transition by Vice President-elect Mike Pence. Mr. Kushner, a transition official said, was systematically dismissing people like Mr. Rogers who had ties with Mr. Christie. As a federal prosecutor, Mr. Christie had sent Mr. Kushners father to jail.
Prominent American allies were in the meantime scrambling to figure out how and when to contact Mr. Trump. At times, they have been patched through to him in his luxury office tower with little warning, according to a Western diplomat who spoke on the condition of anonymity to detail private conversations...
Eliot A. Cohen, a former State Department official who had criticized Mr. Trump during the campaign but said after his election that he would keep an open mind about advising him, said Tuesday on Twitter that he had changed his opinion. After speaking to the transition team, he wrote, he had changed my recommendation: stay away.
He added: Theyre angry, arrogant, screaming you LOST! Will be ugly.

Just goes to show that the Old Grey Lady learned NOTHING with Trump’s election. They are simply advancing their own demise.
What was Christie up to? What was the immediate cause which prompted Pence to issue the edict on lobbyists?

Snip:
Having left the Times on July 25, after almost 12 years as an editor and correspondent, I missed the main heat of the presidential campaign; so I cant add a word to those self-assessments of the recent political coverage. But these recent mornings-after leave me with some hard-earned thoughts about the Times drift from its moorings in the nation at-large.
For starters, its important to accept that the New York Times has always or at least for many decades been a far more editor-driven, and self-conscious, publication than many of those with which it competes. Historically, the Los Angeles Times, where I worked twice, for instance, was a reporter-driven, bottom-up newspaper. Most editors wanted to know, every day, before the first morning meeting: What are you hearing? What have you got?
It was a shock on arriving at the New York Times in 2004, as the papers movie editor, to realize that its editorial dynamic was essentially the reverse. By and large, talented reporters scrambled to match stories with what internally was often called the narrative. We were occasionally asked to map a narrative for our various beats a year in advance, square the plan with editors, then generate stories that fit the pre-designated line.
end Snip.

Anyone believing a word that comes out of the NYT...
They spent a week working on it.
At the end of the drivel: “Reporting was contributed by Helene Cooper, David E. Sanger, Eric Lipton, Adam Goldman, Ashley Parker and Michael S. Schmidt”
Apparently it took 6 people to report on their own speculations.
LOL!
No one at the Slimes understands how real-world professional organizations operate; hence they cannot comprehend what Trump is doing. The less they understand, the more Trump will get done.
This is all part of the NYT propaganda to try to deligitimize the election and administration. If you thought the MSM were bad before the election, don’t believe anything you hear from them now. They failed in their mission to defeat Trump and will be even worse now, trying to maintain some sliver of relevance. The Denver Post is basically reduced to the size of a comic book. But give ‘em credit, they are all in against Trump.
Fat chance and their evidence is Slim...
What fools! Trump was only elected ONE WEEK AGO! He has yet to be inaugurated - that’s two months from now - and visited the White House just last Thursday. Does the NY Slimes think Trump has a magic wand? These people are hilarious!
The media is clutching at pearls hoping they can throw something at the wall and have it stick. I think they all need to be given a snuggle animal in a quiet space.
Who can possibly accuse the Times of bias these days ...
Ed
YES
When are you going to learn that when you print ignorant crap like this, we only despise you all the more?
LOL!
Can’t see the whole thing as I’ve used up my quota of NYT’s articles for the month apparently. Not sure if I want to subscribe. Any way, keep in mind that Maggie Haberman was caught in the Wikileaks as being a reporter willing to “tee up” stories for Clinton.
That said, there are all these rumors of discord with regard to Trump’s transition team. It’s the new focus of the media with CNN devoting its time to that and Bannon. Here’s the deal - it probably isn’t going as smoothly as it would if he was a career politician. That’s okay. I believe he’ll get it sorted out in the end.
I’ll remind you that his VP selection was fraught with articles like this. The media in contrast praised the smooth roll out of Kaine. I believe that Trump was conflicted with his pick of Pence, and there were some people leaking stuff they shouldn’t have been about the process. You know what, though? For all the media’s praise of Hillary’s roll out of Kaine, Pence turned out to be a far superior pick. Trump is a business man, and things can get cut throat, but I have faith he’ll get the right people into place in the end.
That pic is great. And the turkey protest. You guys are great. It’s so much fun. News broadcast on AM radio said Trumps transition team is in a “Stalinistic Purge”. I kid you not!
They ARE amateurs. Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing.
NYT writers are paid liars. That is never a good thing.
