Its law, he said in an interview with CBS 60 Minutes that aired Sunday. It was settled in the Supreme Court. I mean its done. These cases have gone to the Supreme Court. Theyve been settled. And Im Im fine with that, he added.

Yes the government can “unmarry” all of them. Especially because none of them are real marriages anyway.
If you think taking the easy path and giving into the evil homosexual agenda is the right path then I suggest you take a back seat to those of us who are willing to fight for what is right and not just what is convenient.
Lead, follow or get out of the way.
So was the ACA.
Trump has promised to appoint judges who would overturn Roe vs Wade. Roe vs Wade is currently “settled law”, as was the Dredd Scott decision until a new court overturned the decision. A court of constitutionalist judges could easily find reasons to overturn the gay marriage decision.
It will never be overturned. We're talking adults making contracts here....
not killing babies in the womb.
This is true.
Well he is correct, as far as he, as President, is concerned it is settled law....but, however, if he were to nominate a few Supreme Court Justices who would overturn it, then it would no longer be settled law....
He respects the SCOTUS and gets attacked. He says he is going around the law makers he gets attacked. Let it be.
Zealots want to force homos to act like humans. Don’t bother. They are rutting animals. Give them medical benefits, bake them a cake with two dudes on top of it and call it a day. No one is asking you all to bend over in the mens bathroom and take it.
Wow! Right to the ‘evil homosexual agenda’. That’s almost as bad as throwing down the Hitler card.
The Supreme Court said last year that states cannot keep same-sex couples from marrying and must recognize their unions.
The latest Gallup poll says 61% of the country now supports gay marriage. And I don’t think the Congress, Democrats or Republicans, or even the Supreme Court with a couple or more of new Conservative judges have the political will to suddenly reverse that.
And I would say that with everything else on his plate with the economy, immigration, ObamaCare, etc., it’s not even on Trump’s radar.
However your mileage may differ.
“Sometimes its best to do things without a lot of fanfare.”
Right you are! Trump has his eyes on the “balls” that are the most important to the vast majority of our citizens, one’s where there can be little controversy and a quick return for the amount of work that needs to be done to achieve success. There is absolutely no reason to get embroiled in the “gay marriage” issue at this juncture. Right now, even if we had a SCOTUS that was up to the task, dealing with this matter would be a near term distraction that would likely have negative effects on much more pressing issues.
True Trump colors! I guess if the black robe tyrannists decide a man can go into a little girls bathroom he will call it settled law. And he will be fine with that too. No wonder he has a stimulus plan ready and he isn’t exactly repealing Obamacare. I tried to tell my Trump drooling friends about the historical stances of Trump.. def not a constitutional person. And never a flat tax guy.. dt folds and the supremene court is already laughing at him.
How I understood it, as well. He’s *fine* with the legislative process.
As long as marriage imparts tax differences, or provides spousal immunity, or allows medical decisions to be made or affects inheritance or child custody, equal protection rules. If marriage does not impart privilege, then it doesn’t matter to the State.
So was abortion. Does that mean President Trump isn’t going to try and change that as well?
Trump’s opinion is to send matters like marriage back to the states. What he will not do is waste political capital on some charade like DOMA. Once it is back in the states marriage can be defended by the grass roots. That won’t happen in some states but that’s the way it is.
As a trump-drooler I would say I didn't want a "perfect" conservative like Cruz to lose to Hillary, I simply wanted someone with guts who could win. Nor do I expect perfection now, just the political calculus to get a few important things done like 15% corporate tax.
“I tried to tell my Trump drooling friends...”
Your TDS is duly noted. Now go back to that dim grey area of irrelevance where your never-trumpers belong. Have a nice day :)
My thoughts exactly
I don’t see how his opinion matters. Challenges to the current court-imposed regime of “marriage” will emerge from the state and lower Federal courts, and the Supreme Court at the time will decide on them. If Mr. Trump appoints justices who are prepared to make changes to the free-abortion regime, those people are very likely to frown upon the redefinition of marriage imposed by the Court.
In my opinion, this is a good time to ignore what Trump says and wait to see what he does as President. Certainly it would save a lot of stress and distress.
Keep up the good fight.
But I hope you didn't fool yourself into thinking that Trump is going to be with you unless pressured.
He was never a Christian social conservative and is not one now.
And when liberals bring forward those lawsuits to punish people for not agreeing with their fantasies, that will be when a court has to look at the basis of their claim.
It is 'settled law' until they try to use the courts to bash more people exercising their natural rights, and then it will no longer be settled law. The constitution limits government infringement of natural rights, it doesn't give rights.
He spoke the truth and did not expand on if anything could be done. Smart cookie showing restraint.
