On Thursday, Hillary Clinton's campaign chairman, John Podesta, held a conference call with devastated staffers that put the rosiest possible frame on a calamitous picture.
The message to the dozens of mostly young, sleep-deprived and shell-shocked aides: We did everything we could have. We wouldn't have changed a thing. You should still be proud.
Inside the Democratic National Committee headquarters, which sits half a mile south of the U.S. Capitol, eyes rolled and heads shook in frustration and disbelief.
Clinton's loss at the hands of Donald Trump amounted to the most surprising outcome in the history of modern electoral politics. Of course things could've been done differently. And ignoring that fact wasn't going to make the searing defeat any easier.
"We are pissed at them and state parties are pissed at them because they lost due to arrogance," a top DNC staffer tells U.S. News, sharing the candid sentiment suffusing the high levels of the committee in exchange for anonymity.

It was a great win for Trump but the fact that 60 MILLION idiots still voted for this stupid, lying bitch should greatly concern us all....
-—Gotta wonder how many of them would switch parties now, knowing what idiots they were working for.-—
No way...their minds are completely indoctrinated by progressive ideology...
The will.wait for the next Marxist leader who will claim to do it right...
Everyone runs from the loser......... it’s the nature of politics. Happens on our side also.
With that said, Hillary was an awful candidate. I cannot remember another candidate with this much baggage and the DNC did themselves no favors by not allowing others to challenge her (truly challenge her) in the primary. The system was rigged for her and she carried that attitude into the general. She never had a true platform beyond attacking Trump and an absolute inability to criticize Obama or his policies. I used this several times with people who seemed uncertain of who to vote for.
She is not a likable person. No charisma and generally rubs people the wrong way. On top of that, she was the most corrupt person to ever run for office. A majority of America knows she is an unindicted criminal who lied over and over about a whole host of issues. Few trusted her. Her arrogance and lack of access compounded these problems and more than once I heard people remark that she did not seem to be “working for it.”
In a way, we really lucked out that they ran her because this was a very close race. A more charismatic and liked (including trusted) rat and I don’t think Trump would have won. This should be a lesson for both parties - you don’t select your standard bearer 8 years in advance nor do you allow one person to stack the party leadership. It is a healthy thing for candidates to win the nomination on their own merits.
I remember thinking Tuesday night when I realized the scope of this victory that there would be a huge backlash against the Clintons. They sold their party out for personal gain with the corruption, the hubris of the email server, and the way they ran roughshod over everyone in their way.
I followed Bill and Hillary Clinton as they left Arkansas, and went to the White House..
The disgusting conduct of Bill in the Oval Office totally turned me against both of them...
I followed her do nothing Senate seat tour...and then off to be SOS...B.Hussein O. peace offering to her...
but the turning factor that made me HATE HER was her and B. Hussein O. action in BENGHAZI AND THE KILLING AND BUTCHERING OF FOUR AMERICAN MEN, ONE NO LESS AN AMBASSADOR TO THE USA. Hillary’s friend!!! they created that mess, denied it, lied about it and then lied to the family members who lost their loved ones...
AND THEN, LIED TO ALL AMERICA..THAT WAS THE END FOR ME, I WOULD NEVER SUPPORT HER FOR ANY POSITION. NEVER...NOT EVER...SHE IS EVIL, DANGEROUS AND NOW, THANK THE LORD, SHE IS A LOSER.
AMEN 3X
“Three people I hope to never see or hear from again....Hillary, her husband, and John Podesta.”
Oh, I want to see them again...when they are under indictment!
When she got the news that it was all over for her, I keep picturing a scene like you see in those "Hitler Finds Out" videos, except it's Hillary sitting at the table, with her staff crowding into the room. Other staff members are standing in the hallway, listening in and crying, as Hillary goes ballistic upon hearing the news.
The arrogance of Clinton, Obama and the whole DC mob destroyed her.
They all deserve the same defeat.
I hope and pray that the next mid term elections are another affirmation of a national move toward anti-globalism and American exceptionalism, all credited to the glory of God given freedom framed by the constitution.
And anybody Bush or Obummer
......touche.....
little people...
You mean dwarfs, hobbits and leprechauns?
Americans are NOT little people.
"The end justifies the means" inevitably ends there.
I wondered about her because Napa county was one of the places they had their special pollwatchers who were probably trying to watch for people who would call them out on cheating they had planned.
The first thing I thought on Tuesday night when it became clear that Trump would win was, Democrats should have taken the trash out in 1995. Since they did not, we finally had to more than 20 years later. And since they did not, the Clintons have destroyed the soul of the party.
It’s arrogance and elitism that cost the Democrats the election. Not only that, the uber-leftist crap that they spouted out.
Ironic oxymoron.
Call me anything you want, accuse me of any crime I commit.
So long as I win, screw you!
Those of us who felt the same way about as her as opposition, albeit non-criminally, couldn't careless about names that most of her rabid supporters can't even comprehend.
A very stupid sort of arrogance.
Sort of the democrat equivalent of the Dole, McCain, Romney scenarios.
The pubbies tried to give us tippy toes Jeb but we rebelled.
Constant public exposure let the public realize that she really is not a very nice person.
WikiLeaks proved that to be a gross understatement, even to the "Low Information Voters" and many of the "Kool-Aid" drinkers.
If the MSM, Late Night 'Comedians', Academia, the Labor, Teachers and Government Employees' Unions & George Soros could not get her elected then Hillary had far more problems than "age and health".
her first press conference at the U.N. after the private server story broke was the most astonishing display of arrogance iv’e ever seen...that was the real Hillary right there.
We did everything we could have. We wouldnt have changed a thing.
You turned your backs on skilled middle class and blue collar workers, you ignored them...and worse you said they are deplorable and irredeemable. That is a cardinal sin for an old Democrat constituency - that could now be Republican for a long time if they deliver. And it’s the most important constituency there is! The Republicans flipped a mass that will be a long-term majority maker because of Trump! Awesome. A monster mistake...Hillary might have screwed up the Democrats for a long, long time.
Unfortunately for her, American voters thought otherwise.
So, they hung a red tag around her neck, and in manufacturing, that means rejection, which they did. Thank God!
The rest is history...
