Donald Trump was consistently behind in the polling in Michigan since his nomination in July.
Yet Tuesday, he narrowly edged out Hillary Clinton by a little more than 13,000 votes.
So what happened?
Just as Obama's message of change resonated among Michigan voters in 2008, so Trump's call for change appeared to carry the day in 2016.
"America is going in the wrong direction and if we don't make some changes, we'll cease to exist as the country we have known," said David Lambright, a Lansing resident who went to Grand Rapids for a Trump rally on the eve of the election. "I agree with his stances and the more we get to know him, the more we support him."

BTTT
In a heavy R county on the west side of Michigan. I was stunned when I got a robo-call from the Dems Monday night, playing President Obama’s voice urging me to get out and vote.
I immediately said that if Hillary is blowing her GOTV money calling me, she’s got an incompetent organization.
I agree with you.
Thats wht I think too....
That early arrest in Broward....caused many ballot stuffers to freak.....georgia michigan and wisconsin....went TRump.
attendance was 100 to 1...
yard signs were 100 to 1....
I just dont think the tally was accurate.
its enough that we “had an election” I guess....imo
Amen!
Michigan has been waiting for the last four and possibly the past eight for the GOPe to give us a reason to come out and vote for them on the national level.
We elected Trump-lite (Rick Snyder) six years ago. Both the house and senate are Republican. We love our guns and have shall issue laws. We voted overwhelmingly against pretend marriage, we have term limits on the state level, we have voter id to prevent voter fraud and a Republican Secretary of State who has worked very hard to clean up vote fraud.
It is not surprising that Trump would see this and come and ask for us to vote for him.
The surprise is that no other candidate did before now.
At least one vote in Hazel Park. Probably more.
You Betcha!
Sarah knew in 2008 if you just tried to win Michigan you could.
Looks like this time it paid off!
Blue collar people have seen the light about their union’s empty promises AND half the voters in Detroit stayed home.
“CNN still has NOT called MI for Trump.”
How did CNN get such power that they can determine who won a state?
Reducing Muslim immigration/refugees was important to some of my Michigan relatives. They have seen Dearbornistan - a dark vision of the future under Hillary.
He won Michigan by staying true to his message and “wasting time and money” by campaigning there even though there was no way he could win it....
Michigan’s 16 electoral votes takes President Trump well above 300 placing him in LANDSLIDE TERRITORY!!!

Absolutely correct! I posted this fact elsewhere but basically I’m restating that if the “Establishment” Republicans had supported their nominee like they did McLame and Mittens, Trump would have had at least 70 Million votes and at the end the popular vote would have been 50.5 Trump 47.5 Clinton! No doubt! The fact all the lame Rhinos (Bushes, McLame, Kaisch, Lindsley, etc) ALL announced that they were voting for someone else ON Election Day depressed the 3% Rhinos that either didn’t bother, didn’t cast a vote for Trump, wrote someone else in, or even betrayed the party and voted for Her! That’s going to be the TRUE story of this election! Thank God Trump over came ALL that and still managed to Win!!
I have been telling everyone how bad Dearborn has become, and they really don’t believe me. I can only imagine it has gotten worse since we left in 2008.
Michigan used to be “owned” by the UAW. It’s a different state now. As the car companies declined, the union’s hold on the state was reduced and the upset about job loss rose.
CNN knows they will keep counting the votes until they get enough for Clinton to win. Just for some face saving for the MI Democrat party.
YES, even turncoat Kaisch today announced his support for President Trump.
CNN can go suck Hillary's eggs.
