Washington (CNN)An emphatically upbeat President Barack Obama promised Wednesday to work toward a "smooth transition" of power to the man he's spent the last year denigrating, insisting that despite his differences with President-elect Donald Trump he would uphold the central tenet of American democracy.
Speaking in the Rose Garden as some of his aides sobbed, Obama made a deliberate effort to counter Democrats' crushing sense of doom at the prospect of four years of President Trump. "It is no secret that the President-elect and I have some pretty significant differences," Obama said with Vice President Joe Biden at his side. "We are now all rooting for his success in uniting and leading the country."

Must be some incriminating stuff in those FBI files.
Barry, be honest: admit that a Trump victory was the worst possibility. We haven’t forgotten about the anti-Trump smack talk.
Trump might be the enemy who has done Barack the best favor he has ever seen in his life.
I shudder when I think of the stuff that we learned through Wikileaks. There was literal black magic going on, not as in Negro black, but as in occult black.
Donald, blessed by God in a most improbable saga, is the earthly wall that stands in its way.
Quite possibly — though it probably pales compared to what Hillary and Bill have incurred.
Oh and not just Donald... Mike Pence is going to be shadowing Donald, because as Veep he needs to be able to step in.
Oh, geez.
Give them something to cry about.
He’s probably just playing good since Trump won, he will speak loudly against whatever policies Trump works at while POTUS.
Surprising that Obama has actually emerged as a rational human being who really seems to mean this. I always thought he was a figurehead anyway, that is, just a way for the radical left to get into power. So now that he has only a few more months (before he goes on to some international power position) maybe he really doesn’t care anymore.
I hope this attitude remains and Trump accepts it graciously and encourages it.
This election was never about Trump vs. Hillary. It was Trump vs. the Uniparty. The Uniparty lost big time and is now trying to ingratiate itself with the new boss.
They know that if they vandalize the White House, unlike Bush, Trump would publish the pictures.
It popped into my head as I was listening that it could have been a sideways jab at the Hillary and the whole Clinton/Bush transition fiasco.
