Ted Cruz: I congratulate President-elect Trump on an amazing victory for the American worker
Ted Cruz Facebook ^ | November 9, 2016 | Ted Cruz

I congratulate President-elect Trump on an amazing victory for the American worker. This affirms what we have long known, that Americans have resoundingly rejected the Obama-Clinton agenda of bigger government, intrusive regulation, executive overreach, and lawlessness that is killing innovation and jobs, squandering opportunity for working men and women, marginalizing our freedoms, and compromising our security.

This election astonished the pundits. This was a change election. Americans voted for Republicans because of a promise to go to Washington to reverse our current course, and end the Washington cartel -- a promise to drain the swamp. Now is the time to follow through on those words with action. We cannot wait even one day to begin implementing a conservative agenda that fulfills those commitments.

I look forward to working with the new administration to confirm conservative justices from the strong list of 21 jurists that was promised. I look forward to working with the new administration to repeal Obamacare, to once and for all secure the border and enforce our immigration laws, and to take action that will rebuild our military and stop radical Islamic terrorists from infiltrating our homeland.

I am eager to help lead the fight in the Senate to pass the conservative agenda that President-elect Trump promised to the American people.

Charting a course to recovery will not be easy, it will take resolve and commitment to undo the havoc wreaked on our country the last eight years. But the future of America is worth it. Defending freedom and preserving the Constitution is worth it.

Nah, he is just another Trump Train Hobo. He could have endorsed Trump at the convention..but didn’t.

There really wasn’t a lot of difference between them in terms of philosophy once Trump outlined his positions. I think in many ways, Cruz pulled him to the right just as Sanders pulled Hillary to the left. Trump was a force of nature, whereas Cruz was not. Maybe some day his time will come. Who knows.... but his support is needed as the Senate margin is thin (for two years).

When Ted was running, he promised to “repeal every word of Obamacare.” Let’s hope he and Donald can work together to get that done.

Ted forgot to mention the repudiation of the GOPe as well. Ted does not get it, never did.

Your understanding of Cruz’ action in the senate is obviously zero.

He’s one of the best advocates we have. I preferred Cruz but always felt Trump had a much better chance of winning the general. Cruz would have lost.

So it’s all good now.

Let’s all work to keep Trump alive and drain the swamp.

Fair enough, thanks Senator. Now don’t be shy, jump on the Trump train and help MAGA!

It’s verbotten to post stuff from the New Yorker on FR but if you want to have a laugh, Google “CRUZ DELIVERS EARLY CONCESSION SPEECH FOR TRUMP”. It’s a short piece of satire posted early election day morning by Andy Borowitz from the NYT and it is a hoot.

They may have had their differences but the smart move would be to nominate Ted for SCotUS.

I assume you meant that sarcastically, however Cruz accompanied Pence to WI (where he won his last primary over Trump) and campaigned hard. It helped win a state that nobody thought Trump would win. While it took him awhile, Senator Cruz did not sit on the sidelines and vote for McMullin or McCain like Grahamnesty and Kasich.

Cruz and Trump do not and will not get along personally for the foreseeable future. However, policy-wise, they are not far apart. Trump needs Cruz to stiffen the spine of the Senate, and will have keep Majority Leader McConnell from curling into a ball when the Dems speak meanly to him. Cruz needs Trump to help get rid of Obamacare and place constitutionalists on the Supreme Court.

Yep ... 110%, full court press, maximum effort, Ted. Just do it. 4 years isn't a lot of time.

I was an ardent Cruz supporter, but knowing what I know now, only Donald J. Trump could defeat The Beast and her media/establishment cronies.

Well done President-Elect Trump! Well done!

As a staunch Cruz supporter and a reluctant Trump supporter let me be the first to say CONGRATULATIONS!

I have crossed swords(as many of us Cruzheads have) with Trump supporters from the beginning. Many of us on FR that supported Cruz were concerned with two major percieved potential issues with the Donald....That he was indeed a conservative and was he electable. The lattert was answered last night, the former will be answered in the coming months.

I voted for Donald Trump because even the remotest chance of a Hillary Clinton presidency was unconscionable. Many of us Cruzheads got over our butthurt over Cruz losing and realized that even an imperfect Trump was vastly superior to the vile Hildebeast. Hence many of us DID vote our conscience and cast our ballot for Trump. I honestly believe that many Cruz supporters including those here on FR did the same and certainly helped push Trump over the top.

The time for all Republicans to unite and push for the conservative constitutional governance that this country is so desperately lacking is now. I will give Donald Trump my complete support in the diligent pursuit of this end. I would hope that all fellow conservatives would do the same.
