As midnight approached and a series of swing states turned red...Cornellians expressed horror that Donald Trump could actually become president.
“How the **** is he winning? What the ****?” said a student early on in the night... as Trump took the state of Ohio.
“We should’ve died in 2012 while we still had the chance,” added Mitch Laski, echoing several students who said they fear a Trump presidency will be the end of equal rights for minorities and free speech in the United States.
Shayra Kamal said she is genuinely concerned about her future in the United States.
“I’m looking into flights back to Bangladesh right now, so I can deport myself ...” she said. “Liberty and freedom are dead.”
Prof. Elizabeth Sanders...called the results of the election “stunning.”
“How could this happen?” she asked. “Clinton outspent him two to one, had a united party and abundant help from the president, first lady, vice president...Bernie Sanders and scores of political and cultural celebrities, in addition to the best ground game money could buy.”
Carolyn Spencer, who said she voted for Clinton, was taken aback by the outpouring of support for Trump, especially because she said “around campus there’s been a lot of support” for Clinton.
As the night wound down, in Facebook posts and other social media, Cornellians began to share their condolences for female and minority friends, saying that Trump’s election to the presidency gives implicit permission for others to adopt “horrible” stances he has endorsed.
“I feel as if many of my peers are in shock — at a time that is so critical to our identity development, this invalidates who we are,” said Dustin Liu. “Many feel this as a personal attack... how we can support one another in the days moving forward.”

She wants to go back to Bangaladesh? They’re KILLING Hindus there just for being non-Islamic. Yeah, sounds like free speech is alive and well over there.
I would be happy to purchase this little snowflake a one-way ticket as long as she signs a legally binding document stating that she will never return to the US again.
That's the truth. I live outside Ithaca but work in the city, and trust me, it's not just Cornell that's insulated against the outside world.
You've seen the bumper sticker: "ITHACA: 10 square miles surrounded by reality".
My liberal co-workers are shuffling around looking like zombies, like tires that somebody just let all the air out of. I tell them to cheer up, things are going to get better now. But it doesn't seem to make much difference in their mood. Strange. I'm in a GREAT mood.

That's correct because Hillary winning was not a given. It was not the given that they thought it was going to be.
What is really showed is how out of touch with mainstream America the self-proclaimed elite really are.
