If the government would everyone over 50 years old 1 million dollars ...

Patriotic Retirement Plan:
There are about 40 million people over 50 in the workplace. Pay them $1 million apiece severance for early retirement with the following stipulations:
1) They MUST retire. That means forty million (some attrition of course) job openings. Unemployment fixed.
2) They MUST buy a new American car. Car industry and manufacturing restored.
3) They MUST either buy a house or payoff their Mortgage. Housing crisis fixed.
That's it, we're only talking 40 million dollars in taxpayer money, not even worth a line item in the US budget.
This would be ample retirement money for anyone with their housing paid for and good transportation.

Hell yeah, I could do a lot with that.

Uhh, I think there's a mistake in your math-
40 million x a million is 4 TRILLION...

Government IS the problem. Not the solution.
Well, I agree with you there, it's hard to save for retirement with the government (local, state, federal) are taking half or more of your income
To: Scythian_Reborn
That’s not even common core math.

You might want to check your math again. It’ll be WAY more than 40 million.

And you thought I was bad at math.

The rebirth did not take. You are missing some vital organs.
Perhaps you could try again?

This is the broken window fallacy.
Taking 40 million productive people out of the work force does not make society richer.
40 million time 1 million does not equal 40 million. It is 40 Trillion, or over 10 years worth of the current annual budget for the federal government.
Unfortunately, you dropped six decimal places in your calculations. Sorry.

“If the government would [WHAT?] everyone over 50 years old 1 million dollars ...”
When will people get that whatever the government SEEMS to to do FOR you, it WILL turn around and do TO you.
Socialism always fails. One reason is that government runs only until it runs out of everyone else’s money

I checked my pockets. I already have $1. So I guess I can retire now even without this proposed government program.

This would be ample retirement money for anyone with their housing paid for and good transportation. Don't think so, and they would not qualify for Social Security at 50 amigo... Still, please send me a check and I'll do with it as I see fit.

The type of math your using is what got us in the shape we’re in.
