An organization hoping to facilitate the secession of California from the Union is holding a meet and greet on the Capitol steps in Sacramento next Wednesday, November 9, 2016, or, the day after the presidential election.
The Yes California Independence Campaign, which is based in San Diego, is aiming to qualify a citizen's initiative in 2018 to get a referendum for secession on the ballot in 2019. They'll be in Sacramento to garner support for their initiative.
"In our view," a statement on its website reads, "the United States of America represents so many things that conflict with Californian values, and our continued statehood means California will continue subsidizing the other states to our own detriment, and to the detriment of our children."

My uncle’s in laws are 5th generation Californians living around Marin. They thought for the longest time if Civil War II breaks out it will start in CA with Fresno being their equivalent of the Masons Dixon line.
As I recall, Pakistan used to be divided into two parts with a hostile India between them. Perhaps that could be a model for dividing up the USA. They get the West Coast and all the East Coast from DC north—plus Chicago. We get the rest.
We keep San Diego for the Marines and Navy there and they can have the rest of the cess pit of a state.

If the federal government would have recognized the 10th Amendment, none of these secession movements would be happening.
But I thought that California was liberal and loyal to the government. Who are these nuts?
I thought this secession was for the northern portion of CA, and the southern portion of OR ..???
If not .. then where are you seceding to ..????
I have family in OR, and if this event should actually take place, I will be one of the first to go ahead and move, as the location I’m in now is lovely to look at, but it’s becoming more and more liberal.
