Chris Christie aides found guilty in Bridgegate trial
New York Post ^ | Nov. 4, 2016 | Kaja Whitehouse

Two former aides of New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie were found guilty of closing down Fort Lee, NJ, lanes to the George Washington Bridge to punish that borough’s mayor for not endorsing the governor’s re-election.

A jury of seven women and five men returned the guilty verdict after five days and 20 hours of deliberations in the Newark federal court trial of Bridget Anne Kelly, Christie’s former deputy chief of staff, and Bill Baroni, Christie’s appointee at the Port Authority.

The guilty verdict is more bad news for Christie, who saw his approval rating plummet to its lowest levels yet during the trial, where former staffers described him as a foul-mouthed bully who ordered subordinates to curse out his critics — and who once got angry over a playful box of donuts.

Christie paid $175,000 in an attack ad against Tom Tancredo, a conservative Republican, when he was running for governor of Colorado. Christie installed democrat John Chickenpooper as the liberal Governor of Colorado. Christie is not a republican.

How in the world did the governor of New Jersey get involved in Colorado politics? Do you have a source link for this?

Left-wing agitators block bridges and highways all the time. I never hear about the bridge blockers or their leaders being held accountable for their actions.

Blocking a bridge or highway is ok if you are a member of BLM.

One of the counts included conspiracy to commit fraud by "knowingly converting and intentionally misapplying property of an organization receiving federal benefits."

Uh -- what? LOL.

Probably why CC has been absent from the Trump train for the past few weeks.

I support a nasty, KGB level beatdown for *ANYTODY* who slows traffic for any reason besides an officer of the law or actually helping victims of a traffic accident.

Politicians, protesters and anyone else that slows me down.

I don’t care if it’s BLM or some politicians minions, break out the truncheons and baseball bats and let traffic roll.

I do not like the timing of this verdict. I think the jurors violated the Hatch Act.

I see that, but, all of this was over petty revenge, Christie having a tantrum because a Democratic mayor declined to endorse him? Christie hugged Obama on-camera when the president was at a popularity peak, because it was politically convenient to do so. Christie talked super-tough on 9/11 and crime during the primaries because it was politically convenient for him to do so. I hate to say "I trust him as far as I can throw him", given the man's weight issues, but...it fits.

furious about that Christie gang intentionally closing that bridge

Closing a 14 lane double-decked bridge carrying more vehicles per year than any other bridge in the world is what the media wants us to believe. No one should have blocked any lanes, but this involved 2 of the lanes. Think of how much money was involved in prosecuting this case. I don't trust Christie so I am glad he has little chance of being any part of a Trump administration.

Black lives Matter types blocked interstate highways more than once in the past couple of years in and near Baltimore. Of course it never made national news.

See Trump demonstrate true CEO ability when passing over Fatty Arbuckle for VP. He wanted him, but this shit canned the deal.

Christie got angry over a box of donuts? Given his size he would probably tear the arm off his grandmother if she was holding the box.

So we can expect like trials and sentences for the Black Lives Matter bridge shutdowns or did these jokers perjure themselves?

Stupid Christie.

He already helped give one Presidential election to a Democrat.

"Unless you were coming from that town, you wouldn't have noticed any difference if you crossed the bridge that day."

I lost hours of my life stuck in traffic on the GW when Chris Christie was still in law school.

The interesting part was that (if I read it correctly), the judge said that they didn't need to prove motive, just conspiracy.

That's interesting because the mayor was rated a "4" on a 10 point scale for endorsing Christie in the first place, so punishing him for not endorsing Christie didn't make much sense. Lacking a motive the whole case falls apart, but the judge said that's okay.

The one (IMO) who is responsible for this fiasco is David Wildstein and of course he's the one who is going to skate.

From what I've heard, it had absolutely nothing to do with the election.

The whole thing was tied to a political dispute among neighboring towns over who had jurisdiction to close county roads in the vicinity of the bridge. Fort Lee was in the habit of closing roads from adjoining towns to keep motorists from cutting through Fort Lee to get to the bridge, and other towns in Bergen County were b!tching about it to the governor's office and to the Port Authority leaders.

Nobody blocked any of the lanes over the bridge.

What happened here was that 3 of the 12 lanes at the GWB upper level toll plaza -- which had been coned off so they were only accessible from Fort Lee -- were opened to general traffic. The entrance ramps from Fort Lee immediately upstream of the toll plaza were closed off in the process.
