Mark Levin no longer a NeverTrumper!
Re: MarkLevin ^ | November 1, 2016 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 11/01/2016 4:57:48 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

Have been listening to Mark Levin for the last hour or so. Am happy to report that our old friend Mark appears to no longer be a NeverTrumper. It appears that he now believes Trump is a lot more of a constitutional conservative than McCain or Romney (well, duh).

It seems Mark's biggest disagreement with Trump now is on free trade. Laments that no one sides with Reagan's trade policies anymore. (Hmmmmm.... I don't recall Reagan being all that much of a "free trader," thought he was very much for the working man, but that's just me).

At any rate, Levin agrees with all of us that Hillary is totally unacceptable and sounds like he's actively encouraging his listeners to forget about NeverTrump and not to stay home, not to vote third party, but to vote FOR Trump!! We can fight him on trade policy, he says, after he's elected. But we have no chance of survival with Hillary--open borders, liberal judges and socialist healthcare will kill us (paraphrasing).

Go, Mark, GO!!

Go, Trump, GO!!

He may no longer be a NeverTrumper,
But as far as I’m concerned he’s still a SharkJumper.

That’s what I mean...We haven’t had many “real” conservatives for a while....

The congress is full of “real” conservatives, is it not? Is Senator Cruz a real conservative? How about senator Lee? How about all those Tea-Partier’s we voted for in the House? How about Rep Dave Brat? Are all these not conservative?

My point is, in spite of holding majorities in both senate & house, nothing significantly conservative has been achieved.

That is why I question their conservative status...

Cruz claimed it, but showed how much he was “establishment” when the going got tough for him...

Too many “professional politicians” to suit me...

Trump’s wish for Constitutional convention to shoot for term limits would be great...

It was always clear to me that Levin opposed Hillary more than he opposed Trump. On June 23, I posted, “Rush isn’t a NeverTrumper. I haven’t listened to Levin in the last week or so, but I’d be surprised if he turns out to be. Anyone who has heard his positions on the issues knows that they are closer to those of Trump than to those of Hillary. I don’t doubt that he’ll criticize Hillary more than he does Trump between now and the election, and be surprised if he doesn’t explicitly recommend voting for Trump.”

Here’s a comment I made on September 8, after Levin announced he was voting for Trump: “Did anyone really expect that Levin would go all the way in a matter of months from denouncing Trump in the primaries to praising him as a good candidate and good guy? As it is, a percentage of his listeners are going to label him a traitor just for announcing he’ll vote for Trump. That still leaves a large percentage, though, who are open to being persuaded.

To be most effective with the persons he can influence, he’ll need to continue saying negative things about both Trump and Hillary. As the election approaches, though, I expect he’ll tone down the criticism of Trump and emphasize, more and more, the danger posed by Hillary. And, most important, emphasize — as he did in the announcement of his vote — that one or the other will be president. We need to make sure it’s not Hillary.”

Gave up on Levin a year ago. Guess he decided what side his bread was buttered on. Big whoop. He can kiss my all Trump, all the time ass. He did his damage and just now wants into the rebellion? Sit in the back, you’ve earned your scorn. Sit it out.

Yes, yes and yes! Term limits would have the greatest effect in draining the swamp of corruption.

I think term limits would bring the government back to the way the founding fathers intended it to be...You go serve your country, then go back home to your family and work...

You and me both. I don’t miss him, and I’ve moved on. Here it is a week before the election and he has an epiphany? Sorry, I won’t be going back.

Maybe Mark had a curable case of whatever Beck is ailing from...was quite shocked when he went all nevertrump despite it being an aid to the evil side.

TRADE POLICY

Consider the writings of a few of our best modern economists, some who worked for Reagan: Walter Williams, Sowell & Milton Freidman.

The ‘Trade Issue’ has never been solved in free economics which asks, do I as an individual have a right to buy any product even when it comes heavily subsidized by a foreign government because they would deliver the lowest price.

Williams & Sowell both have self conflicting arguments. Buying from a slave state like China is good for that consumer but buying during U.S. Antebellum slavery is bad because slaves were limited.

Nobody has yet asked them to clarify their conflicted arguments.

Freidman at least hedges his bet at one point that free trade has it’s limitations. Freidman was the economic advisor to Ronald Reagan.

Levon has not yet learned that free trade is ‘unsettled science’ in the discipline of economics. Forming a rigid ideology on a mushy issue can be dangerous.

FREE TRADE QUESTION

The free trade question reduces to: can I buy from a Slave State like China with a low price? Then why can I not buy a cheap product subsidized by my own U.S. Government?

Allow our govenment to pick winners and losers is bad, but foriegn governments is good.

This is the moral dilemma of free trade economists. This here is the first time the problem is stated clearly.

Mark Levin, free trade is a mine field issue, and I enjoy hearing the best minds stumble all over it.

Agreed Free Trade is not the same as Fair Trade.
Free Trade has one and only one definition. In one word, CAPITALISM. What is Free Trade to a German is Free Trade to a Mexican is Free Trade to a Canadian is Free Trade to Americans.

Fair Trade is totally subjective and exists only in a person’s opinions and prejudices. What is Fair Trade to a German is not Fair to an American.

What is Fair to Carlos Slim who carved out Cell Phones in NAFTA to his personal benefit is not Fair to the Mexicans who are not Carlos Slim.

What is Fair Trade to Goldman-Sachs is not Fair to steel workers in Pittsburgh.

Fair is only Fair to those who are in power at any point in time. It is never Fair to those out of power.

Any one who thinks $800,000,000,000 trade deficit every year is good capitalism needs to get their head examined quickly.

If Ford can build an ultra modern car manufacturing plant for $3,000,000,000 in Mexico, just think how many manufacturing plants and infra-structure we can build with $800,000,000,000 EVERY YEAR!

To make it even easier for economics handicapped persons to understand, we can have 266 brand new Ford style manufacturing plants built in USA EVERY YEAR. How many good middle class jobs will that create?

Only people benefiting from the $800,000,000,000 annual trade deficit are the ultra rich donors of career politicians. That is why we have stupid trade deals like NAFTA and TPP and giving China MFN status. China throws every possible restriction & tariffs on imports, but we let their stuff coming in freely. How stupid is this arrangement?
