The FBI got a warrant to search Anthony Weiner’s laptop for new evidence in the Hillary Clinton email scandal, setting off a mad dash to try and finish the massive job before Election Day, law-enforcement sources told The Post Sunday.
Weiner shared the laptop computer with his now-estranged wife, top Clinton aide Huma Abedin, and the feds believe there are around 650,000 emails stored on it, with many from Abedin’s accounts, the Wall Street Journal reported.
“FBI agents are reviewing the emails as we speak,” one source told The Post.
Metadata found on Weiner’s laptop computer — seized as part of an investigation into his explicit, online relationship with a 15-year-old girl in North Carolina — suggest it may hold thousands of emails sent to or from Clinton’s private server, sources said.
It was unclear how long the search would take, but an official briefed on the matter told The Post that the job would extend past Nov. 8, when the vast majority of Americans go to the polls.
“There are too many emails to sift through before the end of the election and that is why [the Department of Justice] was cautioning [FBI Director James Comey not to make the announcement,” the official said.
“The FBI won’t be able to look through them all and now they risk looking political.
“Many of these emails appear to be redundant. That’s to say that since Huma was on Hillary’s staff, she was apparently copied on a lot of them.Now will all of them be redundant? No, that won’t be the case for all of them,” the official added.
Agents have probable cause to search only those that relate to the Clinton probe, and they’re only expected to seize a portion of the huge cache, a law-enforcement source told The Post.

Haven't seen new emails from WikiLeaks the past few days....nothing juicy?
There is absolutely no way, no way whatsoever, they can look and cross reference 10s of thousands of emails between now and november 8, and know if any of were classified at the time they were sent, etc.... Any report coming out before election day claiming there is no evidence relevant in this would be a lie.

Those were printed emails.
These are emails on a computer (or other electronic device.) These can be sorted and filtered and they can access meta-data. It will be much easier to target the search.
Exactly. What would be the max crime for sending classified e-mail? A slap on the wrist like Petraus got? The former governor of VA got sentenced to real jail time for accepting “gifts” as governor. Bribery is the far more serious crime.

Sorting be “to” and “from” doesn’t work when people use aliases (reference Obama), have alternate accounts, multiple accounts, abandoned email accounts.
The point being, due diligence would dictate anything that can’t be culled as spam => must be read.
Due diligence would dictate a review by two separate reviewers before any one email is excluded. To avoid bias or simple error.
As two separate emails chains may be complimentary, correlations in time need to be made between separate emails chains to see the big picture.
After all that an army of hand picked DoJ lawyers descend to start dismissing anything and everything found.

In the event they come across something disqualifying, do they release it right away before a full search is completed? If the rumors about the whole Lolita thing are true, wouldn’t they recommend on that alone?
I don’t thin k the PD in NC have a copy. The crime was committed in NYC. They have control. Trust me NYPD hate Wiener and Clinton. They won’t roll.
But.. the paragraph markings — the ones Hillary said she thought were alphabetically sequential — may still be intact.
They should look for: “(C),” “(S),” and “(TS).”
They can also search for FOB (friend of Bill), donor, donation, delete, destroy, and any and all classified markings by keyword search. This is not as difficult as they make it sound.
All they have to find are a few classified emails that were on the computer - that’s a crime. It is a safe bet that they are there and eventually may show that her attorney’s in fact did delete classified emails. Oops.
Find relevant emails from Hillary that she did not turn over to the State Department or that FBI could not find - that’s a crime. This would also implicate her attorney’s in the destruction of public records. Oops.
Everything else (there will be more) is gravy. The correct answer for the FBI since everyone is demanding that they say something now is - “we found classified emails and work related emails that were not turned over. The investigation will continue.”
That would be the end of the story prior to the election because (as someone kindly posted above me) they would both be disqualified to hold any office in the government if they were found guilty of either. The investigation will continue and people will know assuming (as the talking heads say) we all have a right to know.
This avenue of attack on Comey and the FBI by the left and media will backfire. This is the fault of Hillary. Period. She set it up, she arrogantly deleted stuff, and they missed something. Lest we forget - many people have said that Huma does not have a security clearance and Weiner did not either. Classified emails in the possession of either is a crime. Hillary (or anyone else) forwarding her classified information would be a crime. Using math like a Federal prosecutor there would potentially be hundreds of felony counts to such an indictment.
If they found Hillary guilty of even one misdemeanor count of destroying a public record she is, by law, disqualified from office. This was the simple charge that Comey could have proceeded with previously. All they needed to do was find one email sent from State to her email on the State server that was not turned over.
