Weiner hands laptop over to FBI as Clinton keeps her distance

Anthony Weiner is cooperating with feds investigating his sexting scandal — turning over his laptop to the FBI — even as Hillary Clinton has not bothered to ask her top aide, Huma Abedin, what’s on the device she shared with her estranged husband.

The laptop that Weiner may have used for communicating with a 15-year-old North Carolina girl also had emails of Abedin’s that are relevant to the Clinton email investigation.

Fox News’ Bret Baier reported Sunday that Weiner had given that laptop to the FBI — and that therefore a warrant may not be necessary to search the device.

Mook, citing a report that a warrant had not been obtained by the FBI to examine Abedin’s emails, claimed that it’s possible nobody has looked at the emails on the laptop.

But this new report — that Weiner is cooperating and that a warrant may not be necessary — sheds new light on the ongoing scandal with Weiner, Clinton and Abedin.

The issue isn't just who has possession of the documents or devices; it's a matter of the legal protocol required in order to use them in a criminal case against a defendant.

If the police found incriminating evidence against Weiner on a computer that he turned over to them (or they got with a subpoena), then it's pretty cut-and-dry. But if they took possession of the computer for the Weiner investigation through a subpoena, and then found incriminating evidence against someone else, then they probably need a second subpoena just to make sure all proper legal channels were followed.

If Weiner turned over the computer willingly, I suspect all bets are off and no subpoena would be needed in order to use evidence against a separate person in a separate criminal investigation.

I know the news said it was a subpoena served on weiner but I highly doubt any suspected criminal would be “asked” to turn over evidence against themselves thus a search warrant is more appropriate because if asked for evidence they would likely destroy it thus kicked in doors to prevent destruction of evidence.

Fox News is reporting that Anthony Weiner is cooperating with the FBI and has turned over the computer in question and therefore the FBI will not need a warrant to gain access to the material on the computer.

Tomorrow should be very interesting.

The deadliest part of this is that no matter what legal contortions Her Royal Heinous performs to do damage control, she won't escape the ridicule. The Post front pages are making me laugh so hard I have to stop looking. Three Hitler Finds Out videos and counting (NSFW on that one). Weiner is cooked. Weiner is hosed. Weiner is crooked. I mean, this stuff writes itself.

Wikileaks, in its turn, has done something equally if not more damaging. People who were expecting a single knockout blow have been disappointed - that's not what is going on. What is going on is a relentless, methodical revelation of an utterly criminal enterprise on so many fronts and composed of so many players that it beggars belief.

But Hillary finally laid low (sorry) by a ridiculous pervert named Weiner with an infatuation for a 15-year-old girl strikes me as beautifully ironic as Alger Hiss being finally compromised by papers hidden in a pumpkin, Al Capone by his tax records, or even Richard Nixon brought down by John Dean's paranoia about his wife's sexual misadventures.

And the political dynamic in this election has swung strongly away from the conspiratorial - the word fits - MSM and toward the surging, uncontrollable power of the alternate media. The Witch is losing this on a front she never expected to have to defend, against people she never thought she'd have to corrupt. The upcoming week may be the wildest Presidential election since Old Hickory's boys rolled the whiskey barrels into town. I'm feeling a little...deplorable...myself.
