I don't know how you can both look at the emails to see whether they include child porn and at the same time not look at them.
So while they may not have methodically gone through and read them one by one, the agents must have a sense of what we have on our hands here.

Since when does the FBI have to have a warrant to look at evidence in the possession of a police department that THEY got through a legal warrant. More spin spin spin.

Even if the DOJ give permission for the FBI to read the emails, the FBI team investigating does not have the security clearance to read them - per FoxNews this am.

So: an Attorney General who is herself pleading the Fifth Amendment with regard to illegal payments to a hostile foreign power is now actively obstructing an investigation of Hillary Clinton by blocking a subpoena. That has to be hammered home.
Possibly, the FBI would get access without DOJ’s cooperation.
Supposedly, Anthony W is cooperating with officials. Since these documents are on his computer, all he has to do is give officials permission to review the files. There can be no claim of ‘classifed’ since they are not on a ‘classified’ computer.

If she allows the FBI to get a subpoena, the emails become evidence and can not be revealed. In fact, the FBI has to stop talking about them. This gives the media their best chance to burry the story, even though it is not a good chance.
OTOH, by obstructing a subpoena, this obstruction becomes a separate story, which has legs of its own. And when she gives in, and ultimately has to allow the FBI to look, this sets off a new round of speculation about what is in the emails.

My guess is that Comie knows it’s highly likely that something in the emails very damaging to hiLIARy will be leaked before the election. Warrant or not, obviously he is aware of the contents. Announcing the re-opening of the investigation was done in an effort to get out in front of it before the house of cards comes down.
