Attorney General Loretta Lynch is declining to comply with an investigation by leading members of Congress about the Obama administrations secret efforts to send Iran $1.7 billion in cash earlier this year, prompting accusations that Lynch has pleaded the Fifth Amendment to avoid incriminating herself over these payments, according to lawmakers and communications exclusively obtained by the Washington Free Beacon.

Draining is NOT ENUFF.
“NUKE THE SWAMP” - do it right the first time.
After the first strike, the recon plane will send back this message:
“This swamp is very deep. You’re gonna need more nukes”.
Yep. Clearly she should be removed from her post.
I’m not sure the money was just for ransom.
I’m not sure if there is enough popcorn in the universe for this.
GMTA. That is what I’ve been thinking for a while. First it was a dribble here and there and now it’s a flood of perps rushing for cover.
I hope Trump drains the swamp and locks up all the alligators. “No intention” my Aunt Fanny. I see no need to prove intention, ESPECIALLY among politicians, most of whom are lawyers and know EXACTLY what they are doing wrong.
Disgusting.
What does the Attorney General need with the 5th Amendment? /paraphrase kirk
After Trump wins, Christie will be handing down indictments like candy in the Justice Department.
I dont know if he’s a good man, but he’s a pit bull when he grabs onto something.
Corruption is when a candidate with an (R) behind their name uses the laws on the books to keep their own hard earned money. Virtuous is when a candidate with a (D) behind their name creates a massive security hole into the most important strategic plans of the nation, while comingling a tax exempt organization with a global pay to play scheme combined with turning allies into enemies and aligning with despots that are are destabilizing the major energy producing nations who are hellbent on global domination - because their intentions are good.
and after that take her for a texas drag
Put her in the House jail until she can be charged by AG Christie.
And I have the power to do all of that because Bill assured me that when Hillary became President I could have anything I want for protecting her ass from prosecution.
May I add to your rant that every last one of these traitors should be hung by a rope in a public place just like they did with lowly cattle thieves, but because all of these people are top government employees braking all of our laws, I think we should execute them by firing squad mad up of thousands of American patriots...and I want to be one of them
The next step will be Obama's "I have full confidence in Secretary Clinton" speech delivered at the White House with Hillary at his side...
Interesting choice of words, "merely".
The response from the attorney generals office is unacceptable and provides evidence that Lynch has chosen to essentially plead the fifth and refuse to respond to inquiries regarding [her] role in providing cash to the worlds foremost state sponsor of terrorism, Rubio and Pompeo wrote on Friday in a follow-up letter to Lynch, according to a copy obtained by the Free Beacon.I suppose stonewalling by this administration can be considered by some as "merely" an acceptable tactic, and say that Lynch is "merely" doing her job. If you consider the chief law enforcement officer of the United States declining to answer legitimate questions from a co-equal branch of the government as not a problem, "merely" to be dismissed as yet another clever political ploy, fine. I don't.The inquiry launched by the lawmakers is just one of several concurrent ongoing congressional probes aimed at unearthing a full accounting of the administrations secret negotiations with Iran.
It is frankly unacceptable that your department refuses to answer straightforward questions from the peoples elected representatives in Congress about an important national security issue, the lawmakers wrote. Your staff failed to address any of our questions, and instead provided a copy of public testimony and a lecture about the sensitivity of information associated with this issue.
As the United States chief law enforcement officer, it is outrageous that you would essentially plead the fifth and refuse to respond to inquiries, they stated. The actions of your department come at time when Iran continues to hold Americans hostage and unjustly sentence them to prison.
The lawmakers included a copy of their previous 13 questions and are requesting that Lynch provide answers by Nov. 4.
When asked about Lynchs efforts to avoid answering questions about the cash payment, Pompeo told the Free Beacon that the Obama administration has blocked Congress at every turn as lawmakers attempt to investigate the payments to Iran.
Who knew that simple questions regarding Attorney General Lynchs approval of billions of dollars in payments to Iran could be so controversial that she would refuse to answer them? Pompeo said. This has become the Obama administrations coping mechanism for anything related to the Islamic Republic of Iranhide information, obfuscate details, and deny answers to Congress and the American people.
They know this isnt a sustainable strategy, however, and I trust they will start to take their professional, and moral, obligations seriously, the lawmaker added.
They may not be prosecuted, but they have broken the public trust and are indirectly admitting that they either committed crimes or are aware of crimes being committed.
The executive branch frequently refuses to answer questions, using executive privilege. All administrations have done this, and short of a court order concerning specific questions or records, no president has been required to reveal the reasoning and arguments of his staff and advisors concerning executive actions or negotiations with foreign powers.
Refusing to answer in this case is a far cry from someone who is under some form of governmental coercion as a witness declining to answer for fear of self-incrimination.
Congressmen conflating executive branch refusal to answer questions about policy decisions with taking the Fifth are merely out for cheap publicity. They can be disappointed and angry at this refusal, but they have no basis for intimating any crime, at least at this point. If they truly do believe that she has committed a crime, then they should impeach her.
They are merely grandstanding.
