Presidents dont give up power.
Executive orders dont expire at the end of each presidential term.
And every successive occupant of the Oval Office since George Washington, who issued the first executive order, has expanded the reach and power of the presidency.
The Constitution invests the President with very specific, limited powers. In recent years, however, American presidents have anointed themselves with the power to wage war, unilaterally kill Americans, torture prisoners, strip citizens of their rights, arrest and detain citizens indefinitely, carry out warrantless spying on Americans, and erect their own secretive, shadow government.
These are the powers that will be inherited by the next heir to the throne, and it wont make a difference whether its a President Trump or a President Clinton occupying the Oval Office.
The powers amassed by each successive president through the negligence of Congress and the courtspowers which add up to a toolbox of terror for an imperial rulerempower whomever occupies the Oval Office to act as a dictator, above the law and beyond any real accountability.
Consider some of the presidential powerswhich have been acquired through the use of executive orders, decrees, memorandums, proclamations, national security directives and legislative signing statements and can be activated by any sitting presidentthat have allowed past presidents to operate above the law and beyond the reach of the Constitution.
The power to kill. President Obama has become the first president to claim the legal authority to order an American citizen killed without judicial involvement, real oversight or public accountability.
The power to wage war. Ever since 9/11, the United States has been in a state of endless war without Congress ever having declared one. Having pledged to end Bushs wars, Barack Obama has instead extended them.
The power to torture. The authorization of torture tactics

Yeah, it does matter. A lot. Absolutely nothing in Trumps life indicates he'd be even remotely like Hillary under any conditions whatsoever. To arbitrarily equate the two is indefensible.
If Trump wins you can bet your sweet bippy that there will be YUGE interest in reigning in the power of the “Imperial Presidency”. Even rescinding Obama’s overreaching EOs is going to cause major constipation. BUT, if Hillary wins, this topic will vanish like spit on a hot grill.
Agreed. Hear, hear!
If we had a provision in our Constitution that if a majority of the voting citizens could vote to execute a sitting President, Obama would have been eliminated the first day of his presidency when he secretly sealed all of his private records...a sure sigh that he should not be our president.....
Used to believe in this guy, even supported him to the tune of many, many, many, bucks. Read his books, his pamphlets, but when he started talking against anything as being “violent,” he lost me. Take him with a grain of salt. The problem is we are all human, eventually going astray of the truth, as if we were ever there initially. Just a thought.
I think his impeachment and removal from office would have sufficed.
I suspect his rage would have caused him to self immolate.
Isn’t that what happens with demons?
There's that "reigning in" egregious error again.
Do most "intellectuals" simply not care about their inability to control homophones?
I've actually worked with a few professionals with multiple higher academic degrees, and university teaching stints who simply never could spell.
LOL.
The first day might be an exaggeration. As I recall, it might have been the second or third day.
For me, absolutely clear as necessary after 90 days.
That he was not threatened with impeachment at that point, simply underscores the ineptitude and timidity crossing over into criminal incompetence on the part of the Republican Congress.*
*I choose to maintain the clear distinction in the Constitution definition of Congress as a bicameral entity, and avoiding the dumping of clarity by lazily using the word "congress" when referring to the House of Representatives.
I am not going to recognize any eo that has govt taking my stuff or forcing me to work, for them. I am not a fed employee. These eos can go screw themselves.
Arrrrrghhh.... Ya got me sheriff!!!
Mea culpa, “reining in”.
Knowledge comes from God, man’s learning is diving into the bubble gum bowl to find some delicious fake truths.
Hillaryous Rotten Criminal’s 5th term ALERT!
<>So lets not have any more talk of which candidate would be more dangerous with these powers.<>
We live under an openly despotic regime.
What to do?
