When Donald Trump threatens to lock up Hillary Clinton if he were president, he's merely "channeling the frustrations of millions of Americans" and doesn't ultimately have that power, his campaign manager suggested Wednesday.
"It wouldn't be up to him whether or not she goes to jail. That would have to be fully adjudicated through the regular channels like it would be for anyone else," Kellyanne Conway said on ABC's "Good Morning America."

They twist everything into something it was not. He never said HE would lock her up, he said she’d be in jail. He never attacked a Gold Star family, they attacked him. He never said all Mexicans were rapists. He never said he would keep all Muslims out of the country. Her arguments rest on a throne of lies.
Ford-Nixon. I am old enough to remember it (though increasingly I realize that a lot of people aren’t)
Nixon was never convicted. Matter of fact, he didnt even face a trial. And that is why that pardon was a crime in itself.
True, but I am still wondering if a sitting president can undo the pardons of a previous president . . . presidents are not monarchs so their words should not have the force of the law of the Medes and the Persians. Once their kings ruled something it was, as they say, written in stone.
I have a feeling that the Donald may test this principle.
No he cant. Because that is in strict violation of law.
The Nixon/Ford debacle was never fought because the congress figured it was enough that Nixon resigned.
The pardon was a crock of shit and everyone knows it.
Nice strawman. He said he would direct his Atty General to appoint a special prosecutor.
.
There is considerable evidence to the effect that a pardon is not valid without a conviction.
IOW, What exactly was pardoned?
.
No. These dumb a$$e$ have absolutely NO idea how serious we are about justice wending its way into the life of HRC.
She’s trying to clear up the usual lefty misconceptions.
Probably can.
Didn’t Gerald Ford pardon Nixon before Nixon was convicted?
The nation would probably honor the pardon.
Besides that. I beleieve that Ford issued an immunity for Nixon and everyone called it a pardon. But and immunity from prosecution has to be specific.
They can NOT issue pardons for someone NOT convicted. But Obama might try the immunity route-which would blow the whole works out of the water since he cant issue blanket immunity.
.
>> “Nice strawman.” <<
We’ll be having quite a large bonfire after this election cycle with all the strawmen we have collected.
.
LOL, glad you understood.
If anyone is going to actually lock Clinton up, let it be Sheriff Joe.
If, anything every comes out of all this, Shrill would suddenly become the sickest woman on the planet and plead for mercy.
While I could easily be wrong, I dont believe that a pardon can be granted without a conviction having occurred.
That is incorrect. Pardons can be issued to remove any possibility of prosecution. Ford pardoned Nixon for any crimes associated with Watergate; Nixon was never prosecuted. Carter pardoned all Vietnam deserters (most of whom were hiding in Canada) allowing them to return to the US without fear of prosecution. Clinton pardoned scores of convicted criminals, but also extended pardons to many of his associates to prevent any prosecution by the Bush administration after Clinton left office. Expect a slew of preemptive pardons from Obama in the waning minutes of his presidency.
Good cop, bad cop. Works every time.
Why not? It worked for the videographer of Bhengazi?
Correct, the only thing a president can’t do (I think) is to pardon someone for a crime they have not yet committed.
It is very much like the threat to take away tax exempt status of churches accused of being involved in political action. No one has been subjected to the threat because everyone knows it would not survive a 1st Amendment challenge.
If Barky pardons Clinton, it is easily challenged and removed. The key is the vacant SCOTUS seat to uphold it.
