LOUIS — Donald Trump adopted a base-first strategy at the second presidential debate, tossing red meat to his most fervent supporters in an effort to save his campaign from imploding.
Trump might have had little choice after an extraordinary weekend that saw Republicans fleeing his campaign.

Love how they always refer to taking a position that you’re supposed to, given the party you’re in, as “tossing red meat”, as if constituents were slathering animals. It’s not like they’re Democrats or something, you know.
I know a few choice words Trump can speak to the moderates...
And plenty of “conservatives” too....
Every person that supports him is his base.
Where did they all come from. They came from listening to him talking to his base.
These pundits couldn’t buy a clue with all Trump’s money.
Reagan showed moderates what they’d like about conservatism; he didn’t water down conservatism for fear of offending the moderates. Seemed to work for him.

I think even the poll watching pearl clutching pussies will be happy here over the next week.
The media know he has expanded his base, he knows that his base are of people who are angry with the current system, they haven’t voted before or in decades, they will show up and are not even polled.
This silent majority will put Trump over what he needs to win, they are doing everything they can to demoralize Trump supporters, that is all they have at this point.
Um...isn’t that what “base” means? And isn’t taking one’s base for granted a really stupid thing to do?

Trump needs a very large turnout from his base in order to win, so it’s natural that he would pay extra attention to it. Take the base for granted and it may stay home, as Hillary may well find out.
The people see and saw a man standing alone against the establishment onslaught last night.
They are standing with him because they finally have someone who identifies with them.
And, when Hillary gives a speech full of wonky crap about “her plans to help the American People”, it’s never described as “throwing red meat to the liberal base”, but rather as a “nuanced and comprehensive policy statement with wide-ranging implications”.

Trump hasn’t tossed a bone to the moderate establishment this entire race. He knows they are the Clinton/Bush establishment.
I’m sick and tired of watching NBC unload on trump and giving Hillary a free ride.
