I’ve been in Florida, but you’re right. I haven’t had to go through a hurricane there.
You wouldn’t have to give me an invitation out of state. I’d BE OUT OF STATE on my own thanks.
With an earthquake you don’t get warning. With a tornado you get very little warning. With a hurricane, you get plenty of warning.
I’d put it to good use.
At least it won’t be the “dirty” side affecting Florida.
Yes it is! Haven't been able to do any car shows for what seems like months. Actually, three weeks.

They specifically ask people not to do just that.
You have to remember Florida has been through many hurricanes and they know what areas they have to remove people from .
What happens when people and start trying to drive out is they end up getting stuck in mega traffic . The last place you want to be in a hurricane is stuck in traffic in your car. Flights start getting canceled right away too.
Florida almost never loss of life even in big hurricanes .
New Orleans - lot of people got trying to drive out and got stuck
Damn.
My daughter is in Gainesville and my niece and her fam are in Charleston, SC.
Thank you for your response.
In Florida, folks stayed and wound up in side their homes with 12 feet of water. They were on their roofs and just clueless what to do.
Right now is when I would be leaving the state. Perhaps even a day or two ago.
I agree that the lowlands are one of the biggest problems due to storm surge.
None the less, 140mph sustained winds... (if that’s what it winds up being)..., a direct hit on that and there are going to be serious problems.
I appreciate your response, and having lived in Florida you do have more credibility.
I often think of the first responders who have to dig folks out after these events. I don’t want someone else having to rick their life to save my posterior.
Take care.
A Gator?
Nah. Went to Marco Rubios school, Santa Fe, for their zoo program.
So glad it’s not Bush’s fault anymore. :)
Our Governor declared a State of Emergency here in NC today too. News said by doing that it lifts some regulations for farmers to get their crops in before the storm hits. Farmers will be able to get in more people to work longer hours and there was also something about allowing heavier loads for trucks hauling produce and such, if I remember correctly.
ROFL!!
True story!
No more Rats in Texas!
New Orleans / La. did not do a state of emergency for Katrina . That is why so many people were stuck on their roofs.
I have been through 2 cat 5 hurricanes and countless cat 3.
I lived in Miami during Andrew.
My house in Palm Beach was hit by 2 hurricanes within a two week period one year .
After Andrew building codes changed all over Florida.
It’s made going through storms much better and safer with the things they learned.
If you live in area that can flood or get storm surge ... they actually come knock on your door and tell you that you have so many hours to get out. You have to go if they tell you to. You don’t stay cause they will kick you out .
They have things all planned to remove elderly people that can not move themselves out of harms way and into shelter or other hospitals/nursing homes (once the governor give the order they start working on it )
It is really not that bad as long as you heed the warnings they give you.
Our biggest problem in Florida comes from stupid people who refuse to go fill up water bottles and buy supplies before the storm. It is really uncalled for to because every year at the start of the season they have sales on all the supplies and the do a tax free week on it .
Hope she's either working or a Gator!
My bet is that 0bama has done something nasty against Israel . . . natural disasters tend to occur to countries that take a stand against God’s nation.
Working.
FINALLY paying her own way.
[[My daughter is in Gainesville and my niece and her fam are in Charleston, SC.]]
Gainsville should be ok . Tell her to heed the warning they give and stock to up on non perishable food and store enough water for a couple of weeks if power goes out.
Walk around outside after the storm is when most people get hurt so tell her to make sure she has everything she needs before the storm and to stay inside after it passes .
The worst part of the storms is where they come ashore by the eye wall (that won’t be Gainsville) The right front quadrant of the storm is where the highest winds and the worse rain is.
Once it hits land it starts to slow down a lot
That hurricane has passed over several countries. What has Florida done? The people are innocent, it’s the government politicians who are at fault. And to put things into perspective; how large was Sodom and Gomorrah? Or how large an area was flooded to kill all those people for their wickedness during Noah’s time compared to a country the size of the US and worse things happening? The US was instrumental in reviving the nation of Israel and is her only real protector barring anything that 0bama does.
[[My bet is that 0bama has done something nasty against Israel . . . natural disasters tend to occur to countries that take a stand against Gods nation.]]
He dissed Israel at Peres’s funeral by saying Jerusalem wasn’t part of Israel .
The storm starting west right after he did that.
Mathew means gift from God
Thanks for the information Lera. I appreciate it.
Sounds very organized. Glad to hear it.
