Regardless of the outcome of the 2016 presidential election, our republic needs a powerful redress against the unconstitutional usurpation of power by the federal government and particularly by the Supreme Court and the president. Restoring federalism is the answer to every significant problem in our republic because federalism produces the marketplace of governments that reward states with honest, efficient, and unobtrusive and which drives wealth and voters out of leftist nanny states.
While Republicans at the federal level ought to embrace and to push this agenda, the narcotic of federal government power and printing presses makes it hard for any national party in Washington to actually fight Washington. The best answer is to enact constitutional amendments that structurally change the balance of power between state governments and the federal government.

Given the current very poor state of education possessed by the general public about Constitutional government, I find this to be a very dangerous idea.
I think it could be an expressway to enshrining FDR’s “Second Bill of Rights” into the actual Constitution.
Obama “opens” the constitution on an almost daily basis. So do the courts. Unless we claw back federalism America is doomed. A convention of states is the only constitutional way to reverse course.
IF the system weren’t so corrupt, I’d agree with you. Kinda like DJT says, “It’s a rigged system.”
This is the only way to save the republic.
Waiting for the federal government send power back to the states is futile. Anything that comes from a convention of states must be approved by 3/4 of the sovereign states. Anything can be rigged, but doing nothing out of fear of the process seems paranoid given the tyrannical nature of our current federal government.
If you search the net for convention of states, spend a few days reading, your opinion will probably change.
[This is the only way to save the republic.]
No it’s not!
We just need strong leaders and judiciaries who will govern strictly to the Constitution and BOR.
If you start getting hard core blue states in there inserting their ideas, it’s asking for trouble.
At the here and now, a Trump presidency is the closest thing to returning to Constiutional rule. Esp. with his ability to appoint more conservative justices to SCOTUS.
As I said, convention of state is the only way. There is no man or woman capable of doing what needs to be done. Term limit any federal position to 8 years, repeal the 17th. Two good starts. No elected official will do either.
We need to adhere to the Constitution not try to change it.
What amendments?
First, restore to state legislatures the power to elect members of the United States Senate and add the power of state legislatures to recall a senator during the term of that senator.
Second, provide that a resolution by three fifths of the state legislatures of the several states could invalidate any federal judicial, legislative, or executive action and could remove any federal official responsible for that action from office.
Me: The above is straight from Levin's Liberty amendments. The Convention of States simulation last month passed similar resolutions.
Article V ping!
Art V and repeal the 16th and the 17th Amendments.
Secession is the ultimate Art. V convention.
I’m ready for it.
[ Secession is the ultimate Art. V convention. ]
To hell with secession, Dissolution is the ultimate strategy
50 new countries and something akin to “Vatican City’ called Washington DC which is just a park and monument land...
Most US states are bigger than most European countries.
Dissolve the Federal Govt and go back to t Art. of Confederation with a few tweaks. I’m good with that.

Heck I think 3 countries would be a good start, Atlantica, Pacfifica, and “New America”
What tweaks, what powers would you grant to a small federal committee of the states?
I follow Levin and support all of his Liberty amendments, thanks for the post.
