Televised and stand-up "comedy" has been politicized and left-partisan since the days of Lenny Bruce, if you're old enough to remember him. It's been an insidious and very effective political take-over of the youth-centric popular culture.

There have been a few exceptions: Johnny Carson comes to mind. He did political humor but whacked by sides pretty equally. SNL has been a joke on itself for decades. I guess there are still a few people dumb enough to watch it.
